He refuses to share his bread with an old man who is weak and clearly in need of nourishment. Later Jonas finds himself listening to the words of Jesus on the mountain. He is inspired by His message. When Jesus asks for food to feed the people, Jonas unselfishly offers the five loaves and two fishes. After Jesus prays over the food, the disciples feed the people. Zeke and Jethro are amazed at the miracle of feeding the masses and come up with a plan to make Jesus king. They want Jesus to perform miracles so they will no longer have to work. When Jesus tells them He is the Bread of Life, the bakers think He is joking and return to their ovens.

In the years following His resurrection, Jesus’ disciples learn to practice His lessons on serving others. While working at the salt mine, James witnesses the battles of two co-workers fighting their power and might to be number one. He remembers being with Jesus as He welcomed and embraced the children and humbly kneeled to wash the disciples’ feet. His compassionate acts demonstrate that the way to greatness in His Kingdom is not found in how many serve you, but in how many you serve. James takes this lesson to heart and gladly serves a less fortunate friend.

Those who recognize their won sins often rejoice that Jesus would want to help anyone so lost. Three such sinners – Matthew the Publican, Miriam the harlot and a sick man name Jonah come to Jesus in needs of hope, healing and forgiveness. Witness the kind Roman centurion who kneels before the Master and pleads for his dying servant. The servant is healed instantly because he asked in faith without doubting. Jesus’ words of comfort are as powerful as His miracles. Saying “weep not,” He raises the son of a poor widow of Nain. Lastly, a man with weakened faith begs the Master to make his son whole. Jesus answers, “all things are possible to him that believeth,” Jesus teaches that if our faith is only the size of a tiny mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible.

Everyone who watches The Lord’s Prayer will know how to have the great power Jesus promised every believer. On many occasions Jesus taught His disciples the power of prayer through parables and His personal example. After Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into Heaven, His disciples find their faith greatly tested when Peter is arrested and cast into a Roman prison. As Herod plots Peter’s death, the believers gather together and follow the example that Jesus taught. Through faith and persistent prayer, Peter’s chains are broken and the Angel of the Lord opens the prison gates. The united prayer of the righteous saves Peter and is still a power on Earth without equal.

In His final days on earth, Jesus’ disciples struggle to understand His mission. They are blinded by their expectations of the Messiah, thinking He would deliver them from Roman rule. “The Messiah Comes” makes the message plain while teaching children that Jesus offers deliverance from the bondage of sin and death and gives hope of eternal life through His atonement.

Jesus often taught His followers using stories called parables. Three of the best loved parables, The Talents, The Rich Man and Lazarus, and the Two Sons, are presented together to reinforce important principles. They teach us how to be good stewards of our time and the things that we have been given. In a world of self-centeredness, these timeless truths help us focus on our faith in God and His power to help us live our lives in accordance with His teachings.
