The Amazon riverbed is home to many of the strangest and fiercest creatures in the world. Join Mike deGruy and Kate Humble as they lead a team of scientists and divers on a high adrenaline adventure to explore the world’s greatest river system in search of new species and come face to face with the monsters of the deep.

The team faces its greatest challenge yet - exploring the 90-metre-deep trench of the legendary Rio Negro. Using an underwater robot to examine the depths proves trickier than anticipated when a storm brews, and as the machine struggles, Mike deGruy heads for the jungle in search of the three-toed sloth. He eventually ventures into the water - only to come face to face with a predatory fish determined to make him its next meal.

The team of divers and scientists are half way through their two thousand mile expedition to film the bizarre creatures that live in the River Amazon. They come face to face with the giant of the river - the anaconda. Mike deGruy and his team also confront an armour plated catfish, discover a 45 metre hole in the riverbed and dive to the very bottom to search for the creatures of the deep.

The Amazon diving team reach the very deepest part of the jungle as they continue their search for the extraordinary creatures of the Amazon River. The overgrown jungle streams contain the richest life, as well as danger, from four metre caiman and the electric eel - a fish that can stun you with a 600 volt shock.

Kate Humble and Mike DeGruy end their exploration of the Amazon with a dive into a 100 metre chasm. They have no idea what to expect lurking on the river bed so at first underwater robots take cameras deep into the abyss. As the expedition draws to a close the team prepares to jump into the depths of the river to film the extraordinary fish that lie in the depths.
