The Bonus Points

This episode we have the wonderful Haley from the Minnmax show AND Haley is also professional video game lawyer. This 2 hour episode has 30 minutes at the end where we learn about video game laws, agreements and patents first hand. Haley was an absolute pro and we appreciate her giving us her time! We also talk about Baldurs Gate 3 (of course), the game is an absolute blinder if you didn't already know that.

Outer Wilds is a 2019 adventure game where you go in to deep space (and time). In this episode of the Bonus Points Podcast Joe and Oli Outer Wilds in-depth then debate where it should go on THE LIST.

Fun sized episode this week as we cover an incredibly simple game, Kuru Kuru Kururin on the Game Boy Advance. This is a NINTENDO series which they've since thrown to the wayside.

This MONSTROUS RPG is 60 hours in length, but we gave it a bloody good go in the two weeks we had to play.

This episode came out great with a lot of late 90s/early 00s nostalgia as RRT4 really encapsulates that time period like no other game we've done (or any other game I can think of at all). Set during the run up to the year 2000, this racer surprised us both with it's heart and technical prowess.

We talk the biggest entertainment product of all time, Grand Theft Auto V. With special guest, friend of the show, game developer extraordinaire and sweet sweet soul Jack Marshall, the boys wade in to GTAV and the murky waters of GTA Online to see where it ranks on the list.

He is very knowledgable in the field and on top of all this, Keith is an established author too (for all you bookworms). Goodboy Galaxy is a NEW gameboy advance game made in the UK! It takes modern design sensibilities and puts them on old hardware pushing that hardware to its limit. See just how good the boy is in this weeks episode!

Harold Halibut is sort of like Bioshock mixed with a warm hug. Just a heads up, we spoil the entire game in this episode, so if you have an intention of playing it, go do it! It's 7 hours long and its on Gamepass

This weeks episode we take a deep dive in to the world of BAHRAMs, Aumanns, and Nohmans in Zone of the Enders with leading man Dingo Egret. Yep, it's a Kojima Productions game!

This week we talk Skate from 2007 with special guest Oli Brotherhood, who you may know as Mumbo Jumbo. This game is DEEPLY rooted in late-noughties skate culture and it's fun to look back as people who had their formative years during this time.

This episode is a fun one, and if you've not blasted through Titanfall 2, we recommend you should! It's about 4 hours long and £3 on LOTS of platforms. A real rollercoaster of a game. We go in depth on each stage of the game which is an unusual format for us but the game is so short its possible here.

Indika is a strange third person narrative adventure game from Russian development team Odd Meter. The game is story driven, so if you're interested in the title please play it first as we spoil the entire thing!

This episode we talk Splinter Cell Blacklist and have a giggle and all the silly fake military stuff and "tacti-cool" vibe of the whole game. Also some big moves on THE LIST

This game is an absolute BANGER and somewhat forgotten by Nintendo themselves. The first game where Mario is truly 'acrobatic', it twists after the 4th (and normally final) stage of the game to reveal a whopping 97 more stages to complete. Made for a fun episode, it's always an easy going one when the game is good!

This might be the most obscure game we've done (despite it selling 1.5 million copies). Maybe more of an audio/visual art piece than a game, we dive in to the short and experimental world of Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP and see what was 'cutting edge' in 2011.

This week we are talking about The Plucky Squire, a game we were both super excited about the release of. The games main hook is that you can jump in and out of a story book, exploring the room the book is in. Maybe we were a little bit too excited for this one however...

Dead Rising is 2006s divisive open world game set in a zombie infested shopping mall, starring the strange, troll-like man Frank West. Armed with a camera (and anything else you can get your hands on) players must survive 72 hours against the zombie horde and even worse… other survivors. This episode we are talking about the Deluxe Remaster, but its very close to the original.

In my restless dreams, I hear that podcast... We take a little holiday to Silent Hill to help leading man James find his missing/dead (???) wife Mary, following the delivery of a mysterious letter. This episode is pretty full-on so those with a sensitive disposition should probably skip!

Metal Gear Rising is a 2013 slash-em-up with a pretty cool feature in "blade mode". Blade mode allows enemies and objects in the world to be carved in real time, and the tech is still impressive today, 11 years on. I guess you could say it was... cutting edge. It's a very "Bonus Points" thing to have one of the biggest franchises in gaming (Metal Gear Solid) represented on the list by its spin-off, but thats how we be.

Take a trip to the glorious (maybe?) country of Arstotzka with the boys in this weeks episode covering 2013's check-em-up Papers, please. Papers, please puts you in the role of a border control officer checking passports, documents and other things before choosing wether or not to let these poor souls in to the fictional country of Arstotzka. Expect your heart strings to be pulled and your red REJECTED stamp to be pushed liberally.
