Originally formed as Tyrant, Jag Panzer delivered one of the best American traditional metal albums in 1983 with Ample Destruction, only to be met with more obstacles than most after its release. They'd persevere however and deliver multiple hard-hitting epic power metal albums across five decades. Strap on some headphones and check 'em out!

One of the absolute must-listens when it comes to early American power metal, Omen is another band that should have been bigger. Led by founder and guitarist, Kenny Powell, Omen put out three essential albums in Battle Cry, Warning of Danger, and The Curse in the ’80s, followed by a couple of head-scratchers. Spinal Tap is perhaps Britain's longest-running yet least talked about band. First signed to Megaphone Records in 1967, the mighty Tap has gone through several style changes and lineup changes over the years. But they undeniably made an impact in the music scene, perhaps most notably in the 1984 documentary "This is Spinal Tap." But there is way more to this band, and with a new documentary coming out soon, I thought this was the perfect time to get into them.
