In Valerande-les-Chantelles, a village in Auvergne, the installation of a doctor in the middle of a medical desert marks the revival of a neglected territory that its inhabitants are gradually leaving. In Valerande, the breeders are worried about the actions of the vultures, who according to them have become too numerous and are attacking their healthy animals. When scavengers are found dead of poisoning, rumour points to Manu as the ideal culprit, and labels him as an old-fashioned breeder who does not respect nature. Pierre and Emma will have their work cut out to bring calm to the village and will find that the worst species of scavengers is the one that feeds on the misfortune of men.
