Cinemax Comedy Experiment

The scenario for the half-hour fantasy, produced by Michael J. Hill and directed by Chuck Cirino, revolves around a nerdy accountant named Norman (Norm) Jones (Gil Christner) who, after advising his girlfriend that ''I do the thinking, you do the smiling,'' discovers that his face is appearing on television screens all over the country. It seems that television signals everywhere are being jammed by unknown forces, creating a ''monstrous turmoil.'' The world is in panic. While a budding Walter Cronkite-like newscaster assures viewers that this is not mind control, Norm finds himself hurtling through space in a kind of Norm-in-Wonderland experience that dumps him into the Shadoevision Worldview Auditorium. The master of ceremonies is Djony Dakota (Mr. Stevens), a talk-show host who keeps his strapped-down audience giggling and applauding mindlessly as the world heads for destruction.
