Shot on location in New York, Los Angeles and Utah it explores the motivation and stylistic approaches of America's new directors working outside the Hollywood system. Interviews with directors Christine Vachon, Ira Deutchman and Robert Redford. Includes clips from DRUGSTORE COWBOY, RESERVOIR DOGS, MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO, SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT, The KILL OFF, GAS FOOD LODGING and ERASER HEAD.
