Feathers purchased from Dersh Feather, New York City. They can be purchased quite inexpensively, since you can use the scruffy ones; the ones I purchased were around 30 cents each.

ON THE USE OF PLIERS: this is likely not historically accurate, though I haven’t yet come across evidence for the more historical method of crimping the aglets. I can only hypothesise that it might have been done with a mallet, though I sadly didn’t have one available. (Do feel free to chime in if you’ve found something!)
