Olympics Rewind

BBC Sport takes a look back at the 2016 Rio Olympics – Britain’s most successful Games since 1908, featuring an incredible 67 medals. The first of four programmes looking back on the action focuses on the opening six days, which includes Adam Peaty’s 100m breaststroke gold medal in the pool. Also catching the eye early on in Brazil is Joe Clarke’s surprise canoe slalom victory, as well as a diving gold for Jack Laugher and Chris Mears in the 3m synchronised springboard competition.

Part two of BBC Sport’s look back on the Rio 2016 Olympics focuses on two golden days in the iconic Brazil city. On days seven and eight, Team GB wins six gold medals in total, with Mo Farah leading the way by claiming yet another Olympic gold with victory in the 10,000m. Multiple Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins is also celebrating Games glory, topping the podium in cycling’s team pursuit, with Laura Kenny and the British quartet following suit in the women’s race. Meanwhile, rower Helen Glover teams up with Heather Stanning for the second games in a row to take gold in the women’s pairs.

Part three of BBC Sport’s look back on the Rio 2016 Olympics focuses on two more golden days in the iconic Brazilian city. Days nine and ten of the 2016 Games saw gymnast Max Whitlock lead the way by claiming two gold medals in one day with victory in the pommel horse and floor exercises. The gold medals didn’t stop there. Tennis icon Andy Murray also topped the podium in the men’s singles, while equestrian ace Charlotte Dujardin won the dressage competition.

Husband and wife Jason and Laura Kenny are the star acts as BBC Sport continues its look back at the highlights of the Rio 2016 Olympics. This programme focuses on days 11-13 in the Brazilian city, which saw Laura and Jason claim their second and third gold medals of the games respectively. It was also a family affair at Copacabana beach, with British brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee claiming gold and silver in the triathlon.

Britain’s women’s hockey team are the headline act in BBC Sport’s final programme looking back on the Rio 2016 Olympics. The GB team, led by captain Kate Richardson-Walsh, claimed gold with a thrilling shoot-out victory over defending champions the Netherlands. There was similar drama on the athletics track, where Mo Farah completed his double-double by defending his 5,000m crown to take his Olympic gold medal tally to four. There was also a multiple Olympic champion crowned in the boxing ring with Nicola Adams defending her London 2012 flyweight title.
