In Valerande, the breeders are worried about the actions of the vultures, who according to them have become too numerous and are attacking their healthy animals. When scavengers are found dead of poisoning, rumour points to Manu as the ideal culprit, and labels him as an old-fashioned breeder who does not respect nature.
