Opening in Howard’s waterfront backyard with a fun loving group of friends partying, Howard takes us to two events from the recent 3rd Annual Coconut Castaways Getaway—themed Meet Me in The Keys. First stop is a Mile Marker 24 concert on the water at Picnic Island, followed by a mixology segment at the Key West Yacht Club. Back at Howard’s dock, we’re treated to “What’s On The Grill” segment with John Myers from Boondocks preparing his signature Panko encrusted Tuna followed by a look back at Howard’s recent “Tunes In A Tropical Key” CD release party at Boondock’s. Next we find Howard fishing from his dock, reflecting on the sinking of the Vandenberg as inspiration for his song of the same name, brought to life by a sinking of the Vandenberg segment. Still dockside, Howard chats with Sir Peter Anderson about the history of the Conch Republic and the Annual Conch Republic Independence Celebration, followed Hula Bill and the Hulaettes. The final segment showcases Howard sharing his inspiration in writing his song “Staycation” with his friends and performance with musical guest Tim McAlpine

Howard visits the Studios of Key West and talks with Artists Fran Decker and Dick Moody. They talk about the Art Bikes they’ve created for an upcoming benefit auction. Howard and Cyndy go on a Bike Tour of Key West and taste tropical fruits. The tour finishes at the Eco Discovery Center, a cutting edge mini museum of the environment next to Fort Zachary Taylor. They see a venemous Lion Fish– the greatest current threat to reef fish. Howard has Oysters at the Half Shell Raw Bar and then helps with the hysterical Turtle Races. Howard enjoys a tropical cocktail called a Florida Madras at the Turtle Kraals Tower Bar. At the end of the Episode, Howard and the Mile Marker 24 band play “Blame it on the Margaritas” to a crowd of friends and fans at the Turtle Kraals.

Howard has fun on the Fury Ultimate Adventure. He Snorkels, Jet Skis and Parasails Howard goes to the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel where Chef Alex Beaumont demonstrates how to make a coffee chipotle Pork Tenderloin, pineapple chutney and black beans. Afterwards at the poolside Blue Bar, master mixologist Sean Morales makes him a “Picture Perfect” the most popular drink at the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel. Closing the episode, Howard and the Mile Marker 24 band perform “Screensaver”.

Howard talks with Capt. Ricky Tomer, a 4th generation Key West Shrimper on the docks of Stock Island. Howard visits the Hogfish Bar & Grill where owner Bobby Mongelli shows him how to put together a Shrimp Boil with Key West Pinks and Florida Lobster. Learn how easy it is to prepare for your next BBQ. Next, Howard saddles up to the Hogfish Bar, where mixologist Patty Wacker mixes up a Mai Tai fit for a Pirate. It has transforming results on Howard! In Pirate mode, Howard visits a fun Key West event, Pirates in Paradise, as they enthusiastically re-enact battles in full costume complete with Cannons and Muskets. Next, up is Key West’s largest annual event, Fantasy Fest, which draws close to 70,000 people to this island town. Howard is a judge at the Headdress Ball contest and chats with emcee Bruce Moore. Then Howard takes in the premier costume competition, Pretenders in Paradise event filled with dazzling costume constructions, some of which can later be seen to frolic down the street in the light hearted Masquerade March. Closing the episode and the 10 day festival, Howard as Parade Grand Marshal and the Mile Marker 24 band perform “Living On Key West Time”, traveling down Duval Street on a Float in the Fantasy Fest Parade.

Key West celebrates the Food and Wine Festival that features a wide selection of various wines and the exotic cuisine from the best chefs in Key West. Howard shares a “Tropical Tip” about growing bananas in the tropics. The Florida Keys are the only tropical city in the continental United States! Next, Howard’s friend Durf shows him how to create Solar Pyrography Art. In “What’s on the Grill” with Chef Alice Weingarten, Howard learns how to make a grilled and glazed pineapple to serve with ice cream. Flare Mixologist Tim Schwarz shows us all how to make a tropical Pina Colada while Jungle Greg’s Cockatoo samples fruit juice at the end of the bar. Closing the episode Howard talks about his Kentucky childhood fantasy and the origins of his song “Where Bananas Grow”, which he and the Mile Marker 24 Band perform “Where Bananas Grow”. The beautiful children seen singing the chorus are Howard’s two grandchildren and Steel Drum player Toko Irie’s 5 children.

The East Martello Museum is haunted by the past of the Florida Keys. Claudia Pennington gives us a tour of the Civil War Fort and the history of Key West Carol Shaughnessy, is in the know. We see the hi-lites of the Hemingway Days Festival and Key West Literary Seminar. Lloyd from Lloyd’s Tropical Bike Tour shows Howard how to whack into a coconut. Howard stands at a safe distance from Lloyd and his very sharp machete. Lloyd underestimates Howard’s playing of a Conch Shell. Artist Chris Guinto builds a giant Sculpture of sand before our eyes. In “Howie’s Happy Hour” Flare Mixologist Tim Schwarz shows us all how to makes a cocktail with 4 Orange Vodka Closing the episode Howard talks about the inspiration of his song and a man that couldn’t move away from the Keys. Howard has an informal talk in the yellow chairs on the dock edge of the canal at his house with two-time Grammy nominated singer songwriter James T. Slater. James kindly agrees to play some of his work for us with Howard. We hear him play a medley of “In My Daughter’s Eyes” “That’s Why God Made Mexico”, “Unstoppable” and finally “Key West Address” the song that got James the Key to the City of Key West. Howard and Cyndy take a launch out to remote and luxurious Little Palm Island Resort and Spa. Award winning Chef Luis Pous shows Howard how to create a Florida Lobster Salad. The Lobster is grilled to perfection and the combination of salads, citrus and peppers makes this elegant recipe something you’ll want to re-create at home. Howard and Cynderella enjoy this waterside lunch with a glass of Rosé, in a romantic interlude. Then poolside at the resort they have Bartender, Belinda Cromp, shows them how to make a “Gumby Slumber”. It’s the Cocktail that greets guests when they first arrive to this exotic Island. The Super Boat Races off the harbor in Key West have Howard’s friends competing and winning their Division after a dramatic come from behind victory. Former Super Boat champions, Craig and Scott Cates discuss their experiences of racing in Super Boats International. Scott and his wife Joanne went currently own the Key West Ice Cream Factory. Howard meets Joanne and has a tropical ice cream cone and learns the secret of creating a chocolate covered frozen Key Lime Pie bar. This treat is highly recommended on any trip to the Keys.
