Junior Vets

It's day one at vet school for the six new junior vets and new mentor, Alex Riley. The junior vets get their hands on cute wriggling piglets that need their vitamins, a huge horse that may be having a baby and tiny kittens in need of a new home. Over the coming weeks, Alex will be at their side as they take on some really extreme vet jobs. And at the end of their journey, the top dog will be named head vet by Alex.

A wild boar kicks up a big fuss just before surgery, Bonte and Nyatepe look inside little dog Marley and Robyn and Molly help a poorly cow with a blocked nose. It might only be their second day at vet school but mischievous mentor Alex has lined up some huge vet jobs for them to tackle.

Poorly dog Isla is having tests that could change her life, a baby donkey and her mum need health checks and some South American alpacas give the junior vets the runaround. The junior vets are getting into their stride now, but there's no let up as vet school has more urgent cases for them to deal with.

The junior vets are operating on poorly dog Guinness who needs surgery. Cheddar the cow needs help giving birth to her new calf. And super-fast birds are in line for a health check - but only if the junior vets can catch them first.

There is a real emergency during an operation on three-year-old rabbit Patches. And the junior vets are called to help a family of goats who need to have their overgrown hooves trimmed. Also, 32,000 patients may be suffering from a mystery disease at a poultry farm. The competition for the head vet title is hotting up as some of the junior vets confront their deepest fears and phobias.

The junior vets help remove a lump from the face of pet chicken Houdini. And just when junior vet Jamie thought he'd conquered his fear of goats, he's sent to the Highlands to track down and treat a giant mountain goat that needs its hooves soothing. And there's a life-changing operation for border collie Joke.

The junior vets help scan Danni the poorly lion to find out if he will ever get better. They also get hands-on with horses when they check the competitors at some posh horse trials and help with upside down surgery on Leo's leg.

Jack the horse has a very sore tummy - can the junior vets help make him better? And Willow the puppy has a very worrying infection. Plus they deal with the world's largest land snails and some very pecky penguins. The junior vets are on the home straight now - but who is in the lead for the title of head vet?

The junior vets go swimming with critically endangered sharks to find out if one of them is pregnant with shark pups. Plus they take control of vet duties at the pet show and judge all sorts of animals, including guinea pigs, chickens, puppies and a bearded dragon. They also need to do tricky surgery on little dog Nisha, who damaged her knee while playing with a ball.

The junior vets have one last chance to help injured animals and poorly pets. They check up on some of their favourite patients to make sure they're recovering properly. And - after three weeks at vet school - it's judgement day. Fears and phobias have been conquered, vet skills have been mastered and most importantly all sorts of animals, pets and critters have been saved. So, who is the winner of the prestigious head vet title?
