In addition, Chris and Esther were out in the holodeck and were forced to play the following co-op games: THE CYCLE: FRONTIER, WE WERE HERE FOREVER, CUPHEAD: THE DELICIOUS LAST COURSE and TMNT: SHREDDER'S REVENGE. Markus, on the other hand, has had to deal with an alien hoarding a large pile of somewhat werkwürdig games, including PEGLIN, UNDERDOG DETECTIVE, NEON WHITE, SOUNDFALL and HARDSPACE: SHIPBREAKER. But the highly ambitious game, which is somewhere between indie and double-A, now has to prove that it can do more than just unleash a cute cat on the Internet. XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 3, on the other hand, has to show that the JRPG has learned from the loudly criticized mistakes of its predecessor. Esther has been trying her hand as the new cult leader for a week and apparently finds being worshipped 24/7 quite good. And the game is released for PC and Mac, as well as Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox Series and Xbox One - meaning no matter what you have at home, your demonic fantasies should be able to be satisfied. Just before Gamescom, we have two more hot action games for you: RUMBLEVERSE is the new free-to-play battle royale game from Epic Games. It sounds like Fortnite, but Rumbleverse is based on brawling instead of shooting. Here, wrestling moves are unpacked instead of firearms. The free game will be released for Playstation 4 and 5, as well as Xbox One and Series and PC. ROLLERDROME also features a creative gameplay mix: Fans of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and OlliOlli will be pleased to learn that Rollerdrome lets you perform cool tricks on roller skates. But the twist is that you also have to shoot a bunch of opponents in slow motion. The game comes from Roll7, who have already shown with OlliOlli that they know a lot about trend sports. And even if the fair is leaner than before the involuntary Corona break, there are still enough highlights this year. The best indie games of the fair, which were so numerous and diverse that you almost forget that GAMESCOM didn't have too much else to offer in terms of gaming. From PLANET OF LANA & ANGER FOOT to AMERICAN ARCADIA to VIKINGS ON TRAMPOLINES, FLINTLOCK and TCHIA, there were some exciting titles. And of course Markus and Sebastian will be gambling their way through the Indie Arena Booth again, which is bigger this year than ever before. And they even meet Nasti!

Nevertheless, Markus thinks that the remake THE LAST OF US PART 1 for Playstation 5 and PC is a good thing. He explains why he thinks so in his review. Our intern Dennis was very taken with Splatoon 3 in his review, and that's despite not having played the first two parts Splatoon 1 & 2 at all.
Trant, on the other hand, took a look at Steelrising, which will be released for the PC and Playstation 5. The Soulslike game is set in a relatively unconsumed setting: Paris in the 18th century. King Louis XVI has put down the revolution with the help of robots and automatons, and now it's up to you to resist him.
In the news, Markus has a preview of Forspoken for you. The game comes from former Final Fantasy developers and already cuts a good figure with its fluid movement feature and the many spells.

Why on earth would you play everything on Steam that just pops up under "New Releases"? Kuro may not be able to answer that question (or rather, quite possibly), but he did it anyway. The result is a post we affectionately call "Games from Steam Hell." Among the many, many new releases, Kuro has picked six and hopes to strike gold.
John, on the other hand, prefers not to play it safe and has dug out his old favorite JAGGED ALLIANCE 2. But because he was determined to beat the tactics classic, which he never managed to play through in his childhood, this time around, it may have caused a problem or two.

With RETURN TO MONKEY ISLAND, Ron Gilbert, the director of the first two parts of the adventure classic, does just that: return. Despite the new look, which caused a lot of criticism in the run-up from the bawling fans, it seems to go down pretty well on release. Monkey Island newcomer Trant, along with adventure experts Eddy and Simon, try to figure out why the renewed trip to Mêlée Island is working out so well. METAL: HELLSINGER's premise is simple: take the classic demon gunplay of DOOM and mix it with elements of a rhythm game like GUITAR HERO. The result is a rhythm shooter that demands not only trigger fingers but also tact. A fresh mixture, to which our editor and "every now and then too" editor Steffen dedicates himself with a musical contribution.
