The body of a young woman was found in a car wreck and everything suggests that the murderer is not at his first attempt. Judge Mongeville and Captain Valentine Duteil start the investigation: Mongeville feels that this case is more serious than it seems. Indeed, the woman was killed in the same circumstances as another victim seven years ago. At the time Mongeville was in charge of the file and he had exonerated a certain Jacques Charpentier. Released, he had left Bordeaux and the real murderer had never been found. But Charpentier has just returned to Bordeaux to get married! The police interrogated him and it turned out that Charpentier had no solid alibi. Worse, his attitude seems offbeat, strange...
