They also find time to dine in one of Britain's oldest inns and sample the delights of the asparagus festival.

Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen make their own pilgrimage to Canterbury in Kent in their culinary quest to discover the weird and wonderful foods of Kent. They visit Canterbury Cathedral and find out how it helped feed hundreds during the Second World War. They call in at a train shed which is now home to a flourishing food market, before popping across to Whistable to sample their lesser-known shellfish delicacy of whelks. And after Mason has a go at leather on willow, everything stops for tea at Kent's County Cricket ground.

In Scarborough, Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen enjoy some top-notch food served up at one of the country's oldest seaside resorts. Their quest to find the best local fare takes them to the harbour, a fish-and-chip café with a glamorous history, a train trip and a tea dance at Scarborough Fair where there are over 30 different varieties of cake for them to taste!

Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen's motoring tour to search out the very best food in our country takes them to the ancient city of Chester. Their first pit stop is to a cheese shop to taste the county's famous Cheshire cheese before heading off to a new type of farmers' market to get stuck into tasting local producers' specialities. History is everywhere in this town and they eat baked potatoes in Roman ruins, a Chester tart next to the city walls, pasta in the cathedral and to top it off are served a Civil War feast at one of the town's oldest pubs!

Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen are in Bristol, rubbing shoulders with some Elizabethan pirates and learning all about an ancient system of cultivation which uses fish waste as fertiliser. In between, they visit an Aladdin's cave of exotic spices and cook up some Gujurati street food, help decorate a chocolate SS Great Britain and take a trip back to the 70s.

They take a stroll around the historic Pantiles, an old Regency arcade which is choc a bloc today with food shops including one for very discerning dogs. They have a cooking lesson from celebrity chef Rosemary Schrager, where Terry is severely chastised for his poor culinary skills. Mason's driving abilities are put to the test on the narrow country lanes and their visit to the garden of England is topped off a visit to a hop farm.

It's a trip to Wales for Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen to track down the foodie delights of Abergavenny in Monmouthshire. They have a busy visit and are impressed by the variety of locally produced food on offer in the market town known as the gateway to Wales. They feast on a Nepalese curry, drink Welsh wine, have a go at making sweets that the miners would have taken down the pit, drop into a Michelin-starred restaurant and at a BBQ at the castle are serenaded by a male voice choir.

The London cab is navigating the winding country lanes of Dorset, where Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen are tucking in to some top notch food from Dorchester. They find out about some of the famous names associated with the town and dine at the courtroom of hanging judge Judge Jeffreys, as well as tucking into pie and chips at Thomas Hardy's old architect's office. Their pursuit for the best local food takes them to a garlic farm, a chocolate factory and a manor house where the vicar supplies the local cider.

Conwy, on the north coast of Wales, is looking splendid as Mason McQueen's black cab takes Terry Wogan to the small medieval town with the large castle. The locals do the duo proud as they show off their Welsh cuisine. Terry gets a BBQ going and tempts motorists to sample his homemade burgers. The taxi heads over the Menai Straits to Anglesey and they learn how to produce salt, the ancient skill of oyster farming and the importance of conservation.

Sir Terry Wogan and cabbie Mason McQueen's epic taxi journey has brought them to Britain's smallest city - Wells in Somerset. Here in the famous cathedral close, they begin their search for the region's most tempting delicacies. Cheddar cheese and sparkling cider in the medieval market place give way to Mendip wallfish cooked in fresh herbs and more cider. Locally-made cheese and cider-flavoured chorizo is a particular high point and the whole adventure ends with a banquet fit for the abbot himself.

They track down weird and wonderful local food, tasting lardy cakes in the historic 13th-century marketplace to venison stew in a venerable coaching inn with a very dubious past. They also visit the home of watercress, enjoy a curry cooked on a fire where our earliest ancestors lived, and meet a 12-foot giant who has presided over all of Salisbury's feasts since the 14th century.

Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen abandon the cab for a punt along the river Cherwell in the university town of Oxford. Their culinary quest leads them to investigate the Oxford sausage and a famous old Oxford marmalade factory. Sir Terry does porridge when he visits an old jail and finally the lads end up at the university itself to meet some students who have formed a society to study the scientific benefits of pizza!

The Roman city of Bath is the destination for Sir Terry Wogan and cabbie Mason McQueen who are seeking out the finest delicacies that over 2,000 years of history can produce. From Bath chaps to beetroot sorbet they see and taste it all - not forgetting the honey-glazed dormice, cooked in the roman style. A reviving brew served by the UK's reigning king of the baristas sets them up for a visit to the catacombs, where an eco food initiative is making mushrooms out of waste cardboard and coffee grounds.

Their epic cab ride round Britain has brought Sir Terry and Mason to the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, where they sample a toffee that is actually a barley sugar, take a Turkish bath and drink enough tea to sink a battleship. A sight-seeing trip to an old hag's cave gives them a glimpse in to the future. They also visit Agatha Christie's hide-out hotel and enjoy a slap up Yorkshire dinner where Yorkshire pudding... is pudding.

Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen are in Winchester, Hampshire, on their gastronomic voyage of discovery. They find a mixture of exotic and traditional British foods in this town as they tuck into the good old banger at a local pub and sushi at a Wasabi Farm. They meet an artist who has turned his hand to farming water buffalo and are given alms of bread and beer at the Hospital of St Cross. At a BBQ at the river, Mason astounds them all when he turns his hand to fly-fishing for the first time and catches a trout!

Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen have reached Britain's second city where they take in the sights and sounds of the famous Bull Ring Market before feasting on the finest dim sum. A canal trip through the heart of the city leads to an impromptu ballet lesson for Mason before they both head to the famous Balti Triangle where they help create the world's first Irish balti.

Mason McQueen's black cab is not too far from the capital today when he takes Terry Wogan down the M40 to Marlow to search out what is on the menu in this historic town located on the River Thames in Buckinghamshire. The lads are intrigued to discover that the small town has many local food producers and restaurants. They are served up a dish by Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar, treated to a pub lunch by Tom Kerridge and, after Mason has a go at rowing on the river, it is time to taste the county's regional dish of bacon badger.
