Frank goes to a local airfield to book his first flying lesson. He ends up walking along the runway with Betty and Grandad. That afternoon, Frank turns up for his flying lesson. After a series of mishaps, like steering the plane into a car park, Frank manages to take off. His instructor gets knocked unconscious trying to close the cabin door, which Frank had opened by mistake. The air traffic controller tries to talk Frank in to land, without success. Luckily, the flying instructor regains consciousness and brings the plane in to land.

Michele Dotrice also returns to her role as long suffering wife, Betty, for the special.
The sketch sees hapless Frank in a number of calamitous escapades culminating in a chance meeting with cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins at the Lee Valley VeloPark with hilarious consequences.

It’s now 50 years since we first met and fell for accident-prone Frank Spencer and his long-suffering wife Betty in the very first episode of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em. In all that time, actors Michael Crawford and Michele Dotrice have never sat down together to discuss the programme - until now.
Here, we find them reunited and looking back on one of Britain’s most-loved sitcoms, and the parts they both played in its creation. They reveal how they came to be cast, what it was like to film the series, celebrated stunts and all, the impact the show’s phenomenal success had on their lives and careers, and the point at which they knew it was time to stop.
