John and Lisa are bringing some new ideas to some festive classics in their Christmas Kitchen this week. They start with a take on Glamorgan sausages served with a chilli jam. Then John has his Nana’s recipe for an indulgent roast chicken with cranberry stuffing and ‘naughty’ mash - a very tasty alternative to traditional turkey and the trimmings. Lisa has the ‘ultimate nut roast’- a dish all their family insist on on Christmas Day - whether they’re vegetarian or not. And it is served with John’s hot piccalilli sauce. For dessert, there is a black forest gateau roulade - as simple as it is delicious.

Next it's John’s crab cocktail, which works perfectly as a festive starter. The main event is their Christmas dinner traybake - a wonderful way to have turkey and all the trimmings with minimal mess or effort. Dessert is another clever cheat - Christmas pudding parcels and cream.

Starting with a lovely light leek and potato soup served with cheese toastie fingers as an optional extra. Then there are vegetarian thatched cottage pies - a perfect winter warmer. John has some sausage orzo served with a beautiful pangritata, and there are mini fruit crumbles made with leftover shortbread for dessert.

Lisa has a wonderfully warming vegetarian chilli and nacho bake - accompanied by a beautiful salsa. John has a clever way to make a one pot teriyaki salmon and noodles served with baked kale crisps, while, for pudding, Lisa has a classically comforting jam roly poly.
