World Air Routes

AOM operated a large fleet of DC10-30 aircraft on long haul flights from Paris Orly to vacation destinations around the world. On this dvd we follow a DC10 flight from Paris to St Maarten and back to Paris via St Lucia. This program is a re-release of the Air Liberte DC10 video and is a unique opportunity to fly in the spacious cockpit of the Douglas aircraft while making an approach to the famous St Maarten Airport.

Air Contractors, an Irish cargo airline, operates scheduled freighter services across Europe mostly on behalf of companies like DHL and Fedex. European Air Charter inaugurated flight operations in 1989 with a large fleet of Bac1-11s. These aircraft were replaced with a fleet of Boeing 737s and European is adding the Boeing 747 for long haul services. This program takes you on the last scheduled commercial revenue flight of the airline's Bac1-11 at the end of March 2002 as the aircraft was retired due to the new noise regulations. For more than 20 years, Heavylift has been the company organizations turn to when they need to safely and reliably transport a large piece of equipment by air. That is why today Heavylift is recognized around the world as the first choice outsize carrier for businesses in a wide variety of sectors. The Belfast first flew in 1964 and only 10 were built for the RAF. Half of those ended up in service with HeavyLift. This program shows exactly what kind of operations Heavylift undertakes as we ferry the Belfast from Paris to Madrid to pickup a crane destined for Dakar in Senegal. Because of the weight of this piece of equipment we have to stop in Las Palmas on the Spanish Canary Islands to refuel the aircraft. On the way back from Dakar to Southend we are empty and as a result the Belfast can do a 9 hour nonstop flight!

This program is one of the most complete in this series focusing on a wide variety of rarely seen features such as a scenic flight around Switzerland, an air to air flight over Switzerland where we follow the dash 8 over some spectacular scenery, an emergency training including smoke in the cabin and evacuation and a flight in the cabin. Created in 1992, dba, was Germany's 2nd largest scheduled airline, operating a fleet of Boeing 737s. The airline offered a very extensive domestic German network with frequent flights between the cities of Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hanburgm Munich and Stuttgart. International service is operated to Malaga, Nice and Venice in addition to extensive charter services to many resort destinations mostly around the Mediteranian area. It was acquired by Air Berlin in August 2006, but continued to operate independently, marketed as Air Berlin (powered by dba) until being dissolved by Air Berlin on Nov 30, 2008. On this program we join 11 flights in the cockpit of the 737 on flights to all of the airline's scheduled domestic destinations in addition to Nice. We learn about the operation of the aircraft as we witness the crews at work before, during and after the various flights.

Freedom Air was based in Auckland and operated a fleet of Boeing 737s through March of 2008. This program takes you on domestic flights between the 3 destinations it serves on this network as well as on a roundtrip across the Tasman. You will sit in the cabin for 1 flight and in the cockpit for all others. Also included are interviews with the airline's Vice President and General Manager as well as the Line Operations Manager in Hamilton.

Jetsgo, Canada's new discount airline, took to the air on June 12th, 2002, with a fleet of 3 Douglas MD80s. By the first anniversary on June 12th, 2003, Jetsgo announced it was increasing its fleet to 12 aircraft. PrivatAir is a leading international business aviation group with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The company has been in operation for 25 years and employs over 400 people. PrivatAir operates a Corporate Shuttle on behalf of Lufthansa on routes from various German airports to the US. For this the airline uses a fleet of Airbus A319 Long Range and Boeing Business Jets (B737-700). They are equipped with 48 business-class seats in a two-by-two configuration. This was the world's first intercontinental business-class-only scheduled airline service. This program is a unique opportunity to see the superb service offered on this very special type of operation.

Aerolineas de Baleares, known as AeBal, operates a modern fleet of Boeing 717-200 aircraft. The airline also operates charter flights around Europe. Lao Airlines, the national airline of Laos, operates a fleet of Airbus A320s and ATR72s on domestic and regional international routes from its main base at Vientiane Airport. This program follows these aircraft on domestic flights to a pair of cities in Laos. After landing in Luang Prabang we skip the return flight for a tour of the city and catch the next ATR flight back to Vientiane. One domestic flight is filmed in the cabin. We also cover several of the airline's international routes to Cambodia, China, Thailand and Vietnam. Those are mostly operated by the airline's new Airbus A320-200.

Styrian Spirit, based in Graz, Austria, operates a modern fleet of Canadair Regional Jets to destinations across Europe. The airline's motto "Best Fare Business Air" was chosen for its high standards of onboard service at reduced ticket prices. This program allows you to discover the many features of the Canadair Regional Jet as you sit in the cockpit for 8 flights and follow the pilots at work. You will see landings and takeoffs from various spots in the cockpit ; pilots take you through the very modern instrumentation and brief you on the various approaches they are preparing. An external walkaround of the aircraft is also included and last, but not least, is a roundtrip flight in the cabin with views of the wing during takeoffs and landings and a look at the excellent cabin service provided by friendly Styrian Spirit flight attendants.

When we first filmed Air Arabia in 2005 the airline was operating a few A320s to 15 destinations. We return now to find the airline having gone through a major fleet expansion and service 115 cities! The last program was 2 hours, filmed with 1 camera and featuring some great routes! Air Caraibes operates a fleet of modern Airbus A330s on transatlantic routes from Martinique and Guadeloupe to Paris. For domestic and regional Caribbean routes the airline uses Embraer Regional Jets, ATR and other aircraft which are all featured on this program. The dvd starts with a roundtrip transatlantic flight on the Airbus A330 from Fort de France to Paris' Orly Airport. The Air France Group is not only one of the largest airline groups in the world but Air France is also one of the largest operators of the Airbus A340 which are used for routes from its Paris CDG hub to North & South America, Africa and Asia. This program features a roundtrip from Paris on a Middle East route as well as on a route to South America, each very different types of operation. Our Flight Instructor and his crew will explain different features about each of these flights including cockpit set-up, route etc... Chalks is the world's oldest scheduled airline, founded in 1911. Today it operates a fleet of Grumman G-73 Turbine Mallards on routes between Florida and the Bahamas as well as charter flights that include scenic overflights of Miami. In 2005 World Air Routes returned to Florida to film a brand new program. A video was filmed and released in 2001 however none of that footage was used on this new dvd which features the airline's current routes between Florida and the Bahamas as well as a very special scenic flight around the Miami area.

Oman Air operated its first flight to Salalah in March 1993 and since then has continually grown and expanded to many destinations. Recently the airline revamped its fleet with Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. This program takes you to some very interesting destination that are part of the Oman Air network. In the cockpit of the 737-700 we fly to Bombay then later to Dubai and Beirut. One of the sectors from Beirut to Dubai is filmed in the cabin. The 737-800 takes us to Dar Es Salaam and Zanzinbar and on a domestic route to Salalah. Last, but not least, we fly the ATR to Khasab where you will enjoy a very spectacular approach. Air Astana operates a modern fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation, Boeing 757 and Fokker 50 aircraft, all 3 types featured in this dvd. This DVD follows an aircraft on a rotation from Belgium to 3 African countries with stops in Nigeria, Kenya and Libya. With only 2 DC-10 programs filmed in our series this is by far the most detailed with 3 hours of flying and pilots presenting themselves and their aircraft in details along with each of the flights including departure and arrival information. You will get an external aircraft walkaround inspection, a complete cockpit presentation done by both the Captain and First Officer as well as a complete engineer pannel presentation including fuel system and balancing done by the flight engineer.

The airline's first flight took off on April 28th 1979 from Berlin Tegel to Palma, both airports are featured on this dvd. Air Berlin's fleet is composed of A320s, B737-700s, B737-800s and Fk100, all shown in this program. For the 1st time in the fantastic Air Canada series you get to experience a program featuring domestic destinations within Canada!
