The Dog Rescuers

The canine carers return with a report about Lilly, an abandoned staffy, who is very underweight and heavily pregnant. Inspector Lyndsey Taylor attempts to rescue Lilly and her pups before it is too late. Cameras also follow Chief Inspector Mark Gent who provides flood assistance to a Dogue de Bordeaux and many of the people whose livelihoods were devastated by December 2015's Storm Desmond.

Inspector Herchy Boal comes across a litter of German Shepherd puppies covered in their own mess and eating raw meat off a filthy floor. Cameras also follow a man who is about to be made homeless but puts his dog's needs before his own, and Inspector Lauren Bailey finds a Jack Russell called Poppy who has lost so much of her coat that it hurts her to sit down.

Inspector Lyndsey Taylor comes to the rescue of Baxter the malnourished shih-tzu in Manchester, while Inspector Anthony Pulfer responds to a call in Bromley regarding two Staffordshire bull terrier crosses named Shaz and Tigger, whose owner suffers from a health condition that makes it difficult to look after them.

A behavioural trainer takes on a group of uncontrollable Japanese chin puppies, and Alan catches up with a Staffordshire bull terrier from an earlier episode to see how it is settling into its new home. In the Wirral, Inspector Anthony Joynes rescues two collie crosses, while Inspector Herchy Boal comes to the aid of a dog that has collapsed with puncture wounds after a fight.

A female Jack Russell is found alone and frightened with a badly broken leg on a Traveller site in Dagenham, and the rescuers takes her in for treatment, but even their timely intervention may not be enough to restore her ability to walk. A farmer puppy farm resident is given a chance to train as a sheepdog in Yorkshire, and Inspector Anthony Pulfer sends an emaciated German shepherd off for specialist treatment. Plus, Alan visits Socks, an old acquaintance whose persistent flea problem has finally become a thing of the past.

An underweight and heavily pregnant dog is brought in to the hospital for an emergency procedure to deliver her pups, and due to the animal's poor condition, Inspector Annie Simmonds is called in to investigate. Inspector Anthony Jenkins and vet Becky McAlpine tend to a bull mastiff in Merseyside with an unusual skin condition, while in Nuneaton, Herchy Boal meets a heartbroken owner who must give up her two beloved terriers following a marriage breakdown. Plus, Anthony Pulfer catches up with Gucci, the severely neglected American bulldog that was reduced to eating her own faeces when inspectors found her last year. Anthony sets out to discover whether Gucci is thriving in her new home.

The animal welfare series continues as Alan focuses on four very different dogs that underwent incredible transformations. Inspector Nick Wheelhouse is called in deal with three adult mastiffs and nine puppies in North London that are all drastically underweight. In Essex, the rescuers provide the elderly owner of Blue, an overweight whippet, with a new diet and exercise regime that will help him shed the excess pounds. The also catches up with Mavis, one of nine poodles abandoned by the side of the road in Winchester last year. When they were found, their wet, matted coats accounted for more than 40 per cent of their body weight, but now Mavis regularly goes for grooming and pampering treatments with her owner Sally. Finally, Anthony Pulfer checks in on Prince, the shar pei who was found with barely any fur.

An unfriendly welcome awaits Inspector Anthony Joynes when he swoops in to save four dogs from an overcrowded house, with one of the animals clearly in need of treatment. Tanya Crawley shares the story of how she bonded with her lurcher after nursing it through a muzzle infection, and trained Medical Detection Dog Mia lets her owner know that it is time for a check-up.

Inspector Callum Isitt teams up with the police to track down four dogs in London, including two St Bernards that have allegedly been beaten by their owners. The trail leads him to Parliament Square, where it is believed that dogs like the missing ones are being used to scam passers-by out of cash. Meanwhile, Inspector Anthony Joynes visits a property where seven underweight American bulldog pups are struggling to get enough nutrition from their exhausted mum.

A hungry husky needs some help to get back to his target weight, and inspector Justin recalls an awful case of abuse.

Chief Inspector Cathy Hyde accesses a property suspected of being involved in puppy trafficking and discovers two Jack Russells and two Yorkshire Terriers.

In Birkenhead, inspector Anthony is called to a property where Teddy, a terrified terrier cross, has a flea infestation so bad that he's missing half his fur.

Lucy the Staffie cross has been kept inside a dark house for so long that it has affected her eyes and she is extremely overweight.

In Hull, inspector Claire Little rescues two flea-infested bull terriers who are missing half of their fur, and inspector Anthony and vet Serena help a dog who may have cancer.
