13-year-old Senja (Varpu Laakkonen) moves to a new town with her poor single mother (Linnea Leino). On the first day of school, Senja meets the wealthy Iina (Ella Korpinen) and lies about being rich herself.

Senja does not dare to tell Iina the truth and continues to lie. A busybody neighbor Olga (Seela Sella) also tries to snoop into Senja's life. Iina, on the other hand, is excited about her new friend.

Senja tries to get to know Iina's friends Miisa (Iida Majaus) and Jenna (Maria Jaskari), but they have a nasty attitude towards the new girl. Senja gets new ideas for her lies from the eco-minded neighbor, Samuel (Taneli Aho).

At school, there is a discussion about traveling abroad and Senja is embarrassed when she hasn't been anywhere. Senja goes to visit Iina and the girls go shopping together when Senja runs into Samuel again.

Senja finds out something terrible and it's hard for her to come to terms with it. Same time Senja can't afford to participate in the field trip. Miisa begins to suspect Senja's stories and the girls follow her home after school.

With her father, Iina reflects on her friendship with Senja. The girls end up playing frisbee golf together. Senja's mother says that she got a job in Norway and Senja should now temporarily move to a completely new home.

Senja is getting used to living in her new home, with varying degrees of success. It is also difficult with Iina; the friendship is broken and Miisa tries to reveal the truth about Senja.

Senja lies to her classmates again and pretends that the new home is her real home. Iina's parents are arguing and she goes to Senja's to vent her thoughts.

The girls go on a field trip to the climbing center and it is about to be revealed that Senja knows Samuel. Miisa's suspicions about Senja grow.

Big news are revealed unexpectedly and it feels difficult for Senja to accept them. Miisa tries to turn Iina against Senja.

Senja's lies begin to be exposed, one by one, and Miisa in particular adds fuel to the fire. Senja opens up about her worries to Samuel.

The girls suspect Senja of being a thief and begin to exclude her at school. However, what worries Senja the most is what happens to her mother who has found herself in a difficult situation.

Senja has to sort things out with everyone. In the end, it all depends on whether anyone can believe Senja anymore.
