Jane is now working with a new team in Manchester.
A drugs dealer is murdered and at first this seems like a routine murder case, especially when a 14 year old boy confesses. However, soon there is another murder and Jane believes it is the work of a local man known as "The Street", who rules over a community of criminals. Jane finds this difficult to prove as "The Street" has himself covered for every incident.
In her personal life Jane has an affair with her boss DCI Martin Ballinger, who is also a married man.
