In Flog It!, a traveling caravan of presenter and experts set up shop in a prominent location (town hall, assembly hall, cathedral etc.) of a town and invite the public to bring in their antiques and collectables. The public usually turn up in hordes, and experts offer advice as to the age, origin, and value of the antiques. Selected antiques which the owners are willing to sell are taken to a public auction, where the expert's valuations are put to the test in the presence of the owner, presenter and expert!
In contrast to "Antiques Roadshow", where the emphasis is on high quality antiques frequently running into thousands of pounds, values on Flog It! are comparatively modest, typically running 50-500 pounds, although the occasional item does reach levels at which a shocked owner appears in need of medical attention.
