Father Paisios gives his fight, as a monk now, in the Philotheu Monastery, on Mount Athos. His mother also fights her own "battle", as she tries to reconcile her deep faith in God and her love for her son. In father Paisios, the desire to go to the most desolate part of Mount Athos, to Katounakia, and to become an ascetic is growing. A vision of the Virgin, however, leads him back to Konitsa, to Stomio Monastery, to renovate the monastery burned by the Germans. Thus, in July 1958, he returns to Konitsa and without passing through his house he goes directly to the monastery.

With the help of the inhabitants of Konitsa, Father Paisios begins to rebuild the monastery. He decides to go to Corfu and collect the relics of Saint Arsenios. So, he visits his house and asks his parents and siblings to tell him if they had put any sign, so he could find the tomb of the Saint. His mother remembers that when they arrived in Corfu, refugees, Saint Arsenius had said to Paisius, when he was an infant, "my son, here you will leave me and from here you will come to take me." Now what the Saint said is happening, for this and his grace will lead him to his grave

With the help of the inhabitants of Konitsa, Father Paisios begins to rebuild the monastery. He decides to go to Corfu and collect the relics of Saint Arsenios. So, he visits his house and asks his parents and siblings to tell him if they had put any sign, so he could find the tomb of the Saint.His mother remembers that when they arrived in Corfu, refugees, Saint Arsenios had said to Paisios, when he was an infant, "my son, this is where you will leave me and from here you will come to take me". Now what the Saint said is happening, for this and his grace will lead him to his grave.Father Paisios goes to Corfu, finds the tomb of the Saint and collects the remains. Afterwards, he returns to Konitsa and his whole family worships the Saint's relics with emotion. After 34 years, they get the wish and blessing of their spiritual father again. Amid intense emotion, Father Paisios begs God to uproot from his heart

Ο Πατέρας Παΐσιος φτάνει στην Αγία Αικατερίνη στο όρος Σινά. Οι πατέρες της Μονής τού παραχωρούν ένα μικρό κελί στην έρημο, όπου αρχίζει να ασκείται κάτω από πολύ σκληρές συνθήκες, ενώ οι επιθέσεις του Πειρασμού είναι καθημερινές. Παρά την κλονισμένη υγεία του, ο Πατέρας Παΐσιος αφοσιώνεται στην άσκηση. Η μητέρα του έχει αποδεχθεί την απόφαση του γιου της να μονάσει στην έρημο και παρακαλεί την Παναγιά να τον προσέχει. Ενώ όμως προσεύχεται, αφήνει ειρηνικά το πνεύμα της.

Η βεβαρημένη υγεία του Πατέρα Παΐσίου τον αναγκάζει να φύγει από το Σινά και να επιστρέψει στο Άγιον Όρος. Εκεί, συναντά τον παπά -Τύχωνα και του ζητά να γίνει ο πνευματικός του. Ένας αγώνας αρχίζει. Κοντά του μαζεύονται κάποιοι νέοι μοναχοί και τον παρακαλούν να τους συντροφεύσει ως πνευματικός οδηγός τους. Η υγεία του Πατέρα Παΐσίου κλονίζεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό και αναγκάζεται να βγει από το Άγιον Όρος, για να επισκεφθεί γιατρούς στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Εκεί συναντά τον Πατέρα Πολύκαρπο, ο οποίος προσφέρεται να τον βοηθήσει. Γνωρίζει τον Πατέρα Παΐσιο με τις πνευματικές του κόρες, που έχουν την επιθυμία να γίνουν μοναχές. Ο γέροντας τις βοηθά με πολλή αγάπη και διάκριση και αρχίζει να δημιουργείται ένας πνευματικός σύνδεσμος μεταξύ τους. Ο γέροντας υποβάλλεται σε εγχείρηση, κατά την οποία του αφαιρούν τον μισό πνεύμονα. Παρά τον δικό του πόνο, όμως, δεν ξεχνά τον πόνο των άλλων. Πλήθος κόσμου βρίσκει παρηγοριά στο νοσοκομείο, κοντά στον Πατέρα Παΐσιο.
