Private detective Georg Wilsberg is surprisingly ordered into a hotel by Commissioner Anna Springer at night. The reason: A dead callboy lies naked in Anna's hotel room. But she claims her innocence. Wilsberg doesn't know what shocked him more, the dead man, or the fact that Anna ordered a gigolo for the night. Is there a dark secret? Wilsberg gives her gnashing her backing to avert the suspicion of murder and, above all, the impending scandal. They claim to have shared a room and accidentally spotted the dead behind an open door. As a witness, Anna Springer is withdrawn from the case - Overbeck takes command and immediately searches for the woman behind the mysterious alias "Alice" who rented the room. Anna remains nervous.

Especially since Denise mentions her ex-lover Gisbert Lotze, who is supposed to be back in the city and after her. Ekki is burned out and is looking for distance, silence and meaning in the Melkwegen Monastery. He is attending a seminar for stressed managers. But he does not find the peace he is looking for. Instead, he meets old friends: Overbeck is on a secret mission and, together with the monks, is supposed to guarantee the security of an approaching visit to the Pope. Wilsberg, in turn, is commissioned by a monk to investigate incognito how the Cellerar Bertram, who was responsible for the monastery's economic affairs, died.

Georg Wilsberg is said to track down 17-year-old Marc, the son of his old school friend Lea Sonnenborn, who has disappeared. Wilsberg is not astonished when he finds out that Marc - in contrast to the rosy picture Lea has of him - is an adrenaline junkie who not only handles smaller drug deals. He wears down his teachers through abysmal psychological terrorism and takes part in illegal car races. When Wilsberg shadows Marc's classmate in such a race, he hides in a dilapidated farmhouse. Ekki finally has a serious relationship and is about to move in with his jealous girlfriend Silke. In the house you will find the body of Bauer Habich, who fought against the municipal utility company. He ran a biogas plant that could supply the whole village with electricity. Richard Breiderhoff is accused of killing his wife Anke Füsting. Alex represents Nikola Füsting, sister of the dead and owner of a horse stud, as a co-plaintiff in court. When Nikola asks her lawyer Alex to bring the valuable semen from the breeding stallion “Stolz von Bielefeld” to the Warendorf state stud, Alex is attacked on the way there and the cooler with the semen is stolen. Meanwhile, Anna Springer has a blind date with her internet acquaintance Karsten. The two get on very well and end up in bed the same evening. When Anna finds out that Karsten is Richard Breiderhoff's brother and she angrily confronts him about it, Karsten takes Anna into his power and from then on keeps her trapped in a cellar. Karsten urges her to call Georg Wilsberg so that he can find something that proves Richard's innocence. Wilsberg immediately notices that Anna is in danger.
