Last year's champion, Hayato Kazami, has modified his championship car, the Asurada, and is aiming to win the opening race. However, rival teams are fielding cars that are even better than Asurada's.

However, the two made an astonishing comeback, posting lap times on par with their qualifying results. Hayato was once again overwhelmed by Osamu's driving technique and fighting spirit, and Osamu shouted to Hayato in his heart, "If you're the true champion of this new era, beat me now. And surpass me!"
