John Williams and the handymen from his team are in the first episode in the seaside town of Zandvoort, where Ludy and Jeroen have been living in a rundown house for two years. The children don’t have their own rooms, and the whole family lives out of suitcases. According to Ludy, the lady of the house, her “handyman” Jeroen suffers from DIY anxiety, which means he hardly does any handiwork at all. She hopes that John can help Jeroen overcome his renovation block.

John and the renovation team travel to Voerendaal, in South Limburg. Henk signed up because his wife Peggy believes he’s a handyman — but he’s not at all! Still, Peggy keeps buying building materials and sending Henk YouTube videos with instructions. She’s even given him an ultimatum: the house must be finished, or she’ll leave him.

John and the renovation team are in Kedichem, in the province of Utrecht. Two years ago, Chamilla and Juan bought their dream home — a former farmhouse that needed a lot of renovation. At first, friends helped them out, but the project turned out to be far too big. By now, the house has become a wreck. Nothing is finished, there’s mold, it’s cold, and Chamilla and Juan are sleeping in the living room.

John and the handymen are in Ermelo. Job and Myrthe live in a house that is literally only half finished. Myrthe wants to start building a future and begin a family, but that’s impossible as long as the upper floor isn’t completed. Job, however, seems fine with things the way they are and doesn’t appear to be in any hurry. The neighbors have also grown tired of the situation and want the young couple to finally take action.

John and the renovation team are in Heerlen, Limburg. Lia and Jos met eight years ago, and ever since then, Lia’s been living in misery. Jos is a real handyman and insists on doing everything himself around the house but unfortunately, he never finishes anything. As a result, the house has turned into a construction site. Lia has been sleeping on the couch for a year. There are tools everywhere, the house is dirty, and Lia has a bleak outlook on the future.

John and the handymen are in Maasdam, in the province of South Holland. Five years ago, Fede and Dennis bought Fede’s childhood home. Dennis renovated the living room and their eldest daughter’s bedroom — and then decided that was enough. As a result, their youngest still doesn’t have his own room and continues to sleep in his parents’ bed. Fede is at her wits’ end.

John and the renovation team are in Posterholt, a village in North Limburg. Two years ago, Jacqueline and Robbert bought a fixer-upper. They stripped the entire upper floor, but then a major leak occurred, and they had to replace the roof. After that, the money ran out, and all renovation work came to a halt.

John and the renovation team are in Heinenoord, in South Holland. In 2007, Anneke and Ruud bought a fixer-upper together. A few years later, Ruud suffered several strokes, and since then, he’s hardly been able to do any handiwork, leaving the house in chaos. Anneke hopes that John and the team can motivate Ruud to start renovating again. If that doesn’t happen, she feels she’ll have no choice but to put herself first...

John and the renovation team are in Bergen op Zoom, visiting Els. Her 26-year-old son Mark bought his first home two years ago. He had a small budget and no renovation experience. He started by demolishing things, and now the house has become uninhabitable. His mother and twin brother Rik are deeply worried. They see Mark slipping further downhill and, in desperation, have called in John and his team for help.
