The work of RAC patrols and other recovery specialists operating around the clock to make sure the UK does not grind to a halt when winter weather hits. RAC patrolman Stewart responds when a woman is stranded alone on the M62 in torrential rain, and has to work on her car within inches of lorries passing by at 70 miles per hour. As Scotland takes the brunt of the winter storms, snowplough driver Chris Smith tries to clear Applecross Pass in the Scottish Highlands. The road is a lifeline for the locals, but as the storms continue, he faces an uphill battle clearing snowdrifts amid gale force winds. Meanwhile, patrolman Steve Forrester is called out to help a driver stuck in the mud on a building site - but has to be careful not to get trapped himself - and in Northampton, heavy road recovery specialists deal with a serious accident involving a lorry on a busy road.
