White Slaves

In 1724 the 15 year old ships boy Hark Olufs is onboard his fathers ship "The Hope", heading from Nates - France home towards Hamburg - Germany. The ship is seized by Muslim Hijackers. The crew is captured and taken as prisoner to Algier. Hark Olufs life as a slave in Northafrica is extradinary. First of all because he survives but even more so because he becomes a slave out of the ordinary.

In the middle of July 1627, four North-African ships attack Iceland. Many people are killed and hundreds of Icelanders as well as an undefined number of Danes are captured and forced onboard thes ships. Among the prisoners is the 29 year old woman Gudridor with her little son. The heat onboard is terrible and within the first month many people die from diseases.

26th of September 1575 the ship Sol is heading from Napoli - Italy to Spain when it is attacked by Northafrican pirates off the Catalan coast. Onboard is the Spanish soldier Miguel, a young man 28 years old, that later bocomes one of the worlds most read authors. Cervantes and the other people onboard are taken hostage and sailed to Algier, where they are sold at tha slavemarket.
