Survivor is back, and this time the location is a group of islands off the coast of Panama. ITV is definately hoping for this series to bring in high ratings. This year, there are 12 contestants instead of 16, it has been scheduled in a later time slot, and the producers have hopefully planned some surprises.
In this episode, we are introduced to the new contestants, and we are told that they will be split up and put onto North Island or South Island. North Island consists of Drew, Dave, Meeta, Tayfun, Helen and Alastair. South Island consists of Jonny, John, Susannah, Lee, Bridget and Sarah. One of these contestants will end up walking away with a £1 million prize and earn the title of Ultimate Survivor.

As life on the islands go on without Sarah, two contestants have secrets that they don't want their tribes to find out about. North's John is keeping his past as a marine a secret. Meanwhile, North's Alastair is keeping a similar secret - he used to be a RAF Survival Combat Officer, and he also wants to keep this from his tribe. And Lee worries that Susannah isn't as faithful to their alliance as he first thought.
Tree mail gives the tribes news of their first Reward Challenge - this leads Tayfun to think that they will be rescuing one of their tribe using a canoe. But, after Tayfun accidentally lost their machete, North Tribe don't think he's an expert at the game, and near enough ignore him.
Before the challenge, with Lee out of the way for a while, Susannah hints to John and Jonny that she would rather be in an alliance with them than Lee.
As the tribes gather at Salt Creek for their challenge, it seems that Tayfun's interpretation of their tree mail is correct. Both tribes have to

South's Bridget is convinced that she will be the next person off the island, if her tribe lose Immunity again. Meanwhile, on North Island, Tayfun is becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of his tribe.
The Reward Challenge is simple. Inside two treasure chests are blocks of ice. The tribes have to get the ice to melt, without smashing it, to get out a flag. The first tribe to raise the flag wins. South's Jonny took the ice into the sea to melt it, which proved effective, and South won the challenge. They were rewarded with a leg of lamb, a diver's knife, flippers, a snorkel and goggles.
The next day, the high seas cause trouble for North Tribe, as they threaten to destroy their camp. Dave is continually annoyed by the fact that Tayfun does not help out around the camp as much as himself and Alistair do. Meanwhile, on South Island, Bridget tells the cameras that they must win this Immunity Challenge, because their tribe could not cope with losing another member.

South Tribe know that the next two challenges are important. If they don't win Immunity, they will go into next episode's Tribal Merger at a disadvantage, and will most likely be voted off one by one by the stronger North Tribe.
The Reward Challenge gives the tribes a chance to get to know each other better. So far, the only times when North and South have been together have been together has been on the boat, and when competing against each other. This is about to change. Both tribes have to nominate one of their own to go over to the opposite island to find out as much as possible. The two ""ambassadors"" will then be quizzed on the other tribe.
North's Helen volunteers herself to go over, and South decide that Susannah is the best at remembering things. They are both soon flown over to the other tribe by helicopter.
Susannah brings three gifts over to North Island - a mini-football for the boys, their most prized possesion - a conch shell, and a pair of Lee's underpants that he left b

The tribes wake up on Day 14, knowing that Tribal Merger is fast approaching. Both tribes go to tree mail, where a present has been left for them - a video camera, for them to record the memories of their islands. On Day 15, they will be packing up and never coming back. The contestants thoroughly enjoy themselves with the camera, which takes their mind off the worries of the upcoming merger.
But, talk soon turns to the opposite tribes. South's Jonny jokes about North's Helen - saying that she would blow the prize money on buying a house for her mother. South Tribe also agree that Dave would spend the money on several Newcastle United season tickets.
As dawn breaks the next day, it is time for North and South tribes to pack up and leave their islands. They will never stay at these islands again for the rest of Survivor. They canoe to their new island (Isla Popa) where they are met by Mark Nicholas.
As the rain pours down, he informs them of what is to come. They will no longer be two t

Columbus' second Reward Challenge gets underway - and it is a ""noughts and crosses"" type game called Broken Spears. When taking over a player's spot, the contestants must break each other's spears, but the contestants are allowed to plead for mercy. Drew is the winner, but later admits that it was all down to luck. Her reward is a tin of food, sleeping bag, and dishes & cutlery.
After the challenge, the friction between Bridget and ex-North continues. Bridget argues with Drew about how to serve the chicken, leaving the rest of ex-South very concerned. They talk amongst themselves over how Bridget seems to have become a different person since the merger, and it making herself a target. If Bridget is voted off - it is very likely that the rest of ex-South will be voted off one by one by ex-North. They all come to the decision to have a word with Bridget later that day, leaving her another two days to make a fresh start before Tribal Council.

As the sun rises on Day 21, the three remaining members of ex-North are missing Helen. Bridget is finding it difficult living with the the people who voted for her on the previous night. Alastair admits to feeling vunerable, now that his tribe are in the minority, and he is likely to be the next target for elimination.
Ex-South warn Bridget that Alastair will try to approach her for an alliance within the next three days, and tell her not to fall for whatever they say. Bridget is still unaware of the fact that her ""friends"" were actually bitching about her on the log stand.
Dave tells the cameras that he would like old tribal loyalties to disappear, and for all of the contestants to treat the tribe as one.
Jonny and Bridget go to Tree Mail for information on the day's Reward Challenge. There is a gruesome clue - a dead spider. The Survivors are taken on a boat and a truck to the location of the day's challenge. They are brought to the entrance to La Gruta - a cave full of bats, and spi

As the sun rised on Day 27, no-one knew how hot the competition, and heat, would increase dramatically. With the departure of Drew, Dave is left as the only ex-north tribe member. He realises that if he has got any chance of surviving, he would have to break the ex-south tribe alliance, and his targets are Bridget and Susannah.
Meanwhile, amongst the ex-south tribe, cracks are beginning to form. Susannah is the first to admit that there are tensions amongst them. Whereas John puts it into more words and says ""personality-wise, I'd rather have Dave any day of the week, rather than Bridget"". But is this enough to save the Geordie Dave?
Everyone has a bad word to say about Bridget this week, Jonny calling her ""cocky"", whereas Susannah says that Bridget is showing her confidence more - but in a bad way.
And if all this wasn't enough, a Cayman - a variety of Alligator - has been spotted in the creek. Braver Survivors that they are now, their reactions dont turn to alarm, but to hunger,

Day 31: It has now been a month since the survivors have been stranded on Bocas Del Torro, and now only four survivors remain, the former South tribe members; Susannah, Bridget, John and Jonny.
Following Dave's departure, it has shown that alliances are stronger than ever, and the odds of winning that £1million pounds have shortened.
Susannah putting the experience so far into her own words saying ""I feel a level of satisfaction and contentment that our plan has been entirely successfully"". Nonetheless she's aware that with the departure of the last former-North Islander, the ""game has changed massively"".
Food is on the spotlight again, and the day ahead has been planned for them. A day never to be forgotten.
This week's reward challenge involves that they must look at themselves in the mirror and guess how much weight they've lost in the month they've spent on the island.

John confides in Jonny and Susannah that at the briefing 33 days earlier, he was worried about how young and fit everybody else looked.
Tree Mail hints that the Reward Challenge will be a quiz - but with questions on whom?
This question is answered when the three remaining contestants are greeted with the smiling faces of the Jury. They will be asked questions on the people who will decide their fate in a few days time. They have five markers placed in front of them - answer a question correctly, and they will move forward. Whoever gets to the fifth marker first, wins the Reward.
Susannah takes an early lead, with questions on past challenges, and little things that may have passed them by. Susannah gets to the fifth marker - and wins the Reward. She has a choice - a pizza, fries, drink, and anything else on the menu from the local Popp

In this live final episode, Mark Nicholas recaps the events of the whole series, which left Susannah Moffat and Jonny Gibb as the final two Survivors. The twelve Survivors are reunited for the first time since they left Panama, and we see the final two days of Jonny and Susannah on the island of Isla Popa.
Susannah started the day reflecting on the events of the last Tribal Council. She felt awful taking away the chance for John to win the prize money, but took Jonny through because she had been closer to him throughout. Jonny admits that he had his doubts about Susannah in the past, but is glad that she brought him through to the Final.
Both Jonny and Susannah wonder how they would spend the prize money - both remembering to add that they would do some good with the money by helping charities.
On Day 36, Susannah and Jonny plan their speeches - with Susannah having the advantage of a pencil and paper from the last Reward Challenge. Whose will make the biggest impact on the Jury?

With the twelve contestants eagerly awaiting the final announcement live in the studio, Mark Nicholas presents the Tribal Council urn, in which lies the votes. First of all, he announces that the public vote was for Jonny, who pulled 89% of over 1 million votes. Susannah only managed to pull in 11%.
One by one, the votes were shown to the audience. John voted for Jonny, stating that the prize could only have a negative effect on Susannah's personality, and hopes that Jonny will spend the money on getting a professional haircut!
Surprisingly, Bridget also voted for Jonny to win the prize, as did Dave. It was official - 4 votes, so Jonny had won the £1 million prize. The other three votes were briefly shown - all for Jonny.
Presented with a mallet, Jonny smashed open the glass case which contained his money - in cash. His life as a poor policeman was over.
