Hey kids!! What’s cooler than distilling brine and harnessing geothermal energy… FOR POINTS! This week’s review is a slightly complicated love letter to the beautiful mundanity of crunchy economic games. Devir have put a huge amount of game into such a small box with Salton Sea, but can it stand up to the microscope of scrutiny?

This week we’ve got a chunky two-header for a chunky, verdant game. Black Forest features so many flecks of Uwe Rosenberg flair – but perhaps doesn’t do enough of its own to earn itself a space in your board game collection? Matt’s all loved-up, Tom is being pragmatic: WHO WILL WIN?

This week we’ve got Matt dragging you through the lovely warm chunky delight that is Triqueta and Triqueta: Hidden Wolves – a quick and simple game with a slightly mean core. Stick around until the end for this one, there’s a SMALL chance we might have gotten carried away with some impromptu nonsense.

I love cheese. Right now you can get this ‘Saint Agur’ blue cheese spread and it’s wildly expensive for how much you get, but it’s absolute heaven. You should go out and get some RIGHT NOW!But should you go out and get the game in today’s review, Fromage? Maybe! It all depends on how cheesy you need your cheese eurogame to be!

In the red corner; DRACULA! The baron of blood, the bringer of plague, the rotting cadaver that all the ladies and gents and those betwixt line up to love! And in the blue corner; Van Helsing! He’s here too! He’s got a crossbow I think? Stakes, maybe? He wants to hurt Dracula, and he’s around to… do his job… ! ! ! WHO WILL WIN in Dracula vs Van Helsing?! Continuing the deluge of excellent eurogames recently, Shackleton Base is a bit of an all-timer for Tom and Matt! This one’s got some wicked theming, a toothy puzzle, and a whole pile of baked-in variability from the various corporations you chuck into the mix.

This week’s video is a review of Floristry – a two player game with real-time auctions that you’ll use to buy flowers that stock up your shop. It uses your mobile phone as a component, in a way we think is honestly very neat. HAVE A PEEK!

This is probably one of the most unique games that Shut Up & Sit Down has ever covered. It’s a bundle of components crammed into a box with an accompanying rulebook written entirely in an alien language. Deciphering that, and playing the resulting game? It’s a wild rabbithole to go down, that your friends and family will be simultaneously impressed and confused by…

It’s the return of the video podcast! As pioneers of the format, we felt a burden to perfect the ‘difficult second album’ – and we think the results speak for themselves. It’s a podcast, with video! Literally what more could you possibly ever want. Tom and Matt have played a bundle of great games from South Korean publisher ‘Playte’ and whacked them all into a silly video. We hope you enjoy it!

This week, Tom’s been wrestling Innovation – perhaps the most peculiar deck of cards money can buy. Trying to play ‘Hearts’ with this badboy will surely get you removed from the function. 110 cards of human history, crammed into a box the size of a “not very big box”! What more could you want?

This week we’ve got a review of Rebirth – a delightfully simple box filled with delicious little Castles. Join Matt and Tom as they explore Scotland’s thriving communal cathedral scene.

It’s been over THREE YEARS since we uploaded a collection video, so we thought that a tour through Tom’s newer, shinier, more exciting selection of boardgames was due! What’s changed after several more years playing game after game, big and small? You’ll have to watch to find out… Or just scroll on down through this big list of all the games! But we do think that the first option is at least a little bit more entertaining.

Noughts Vs Crosses – the eternal battle. Who will emerge, forged in flame, to take up the mantle of ‘best shape’? There is only one way to find out… Perhaps the prime contender for ‘most cut content’, this video was originally meant to be a thorough exploration of the blessed gridgame that culminated in a review of The Architects of Amytis – but that thorough exploration was, honestly, as dull as dishwater. Turns out that I’m pretty bad at writing reviews for different forms of stone-pusher. Instead, we’ve got something short and sharp and (hopefully) sweet! The Architects of Amytis is a charming little box that makes you think a little bit more about Tics, Tacs, and Toes (not like that).
