In the library of a village in Southern France a young girl unlocks the clasp on an ancient sealed book then disappears. At Torrington Academy Diana bets the sloppy Martin that he can't stay clean for 24 hours, the loser to give Java a foot massage and caveman have very smelly feet. Martin, Diana and Java are paged and use the warpgate hidden in cafeteria's fridge to transport to The Centre where they are briefed by Director M.O.M. then transported to France by Billy just in time to see another child disappear. Martin realizes the monster is a boogeyman who is carrying off naughty children to his own swamplike dimension. Encouraging other kids to run wild and attract the boogey man Martin uses the gateway it opens to enter its world with Diana and Java and rescue the missing children. Returning to the real world they seal the boogeyman back in the magic book which is taken into Centre custody by M.O.M. and Billy. The 24 hours are up and despite all the swamps and ooze amazingly M

A meteor crashes near a small motel & truck stop in the Alberta Badlands. When the owner goes to investigate something swoops down and he disappears. Meanwhile at Torrington Academy a chance collision with Jenny, the most popular girl at school leaves her lipstick on Martin's cheek and him convinced she's fallen for him. Paged by Centre (whose gateway is in a locker this time) Diana, Martin & Java travel there and are assigned to investigate. Arriving at the Badlands they meet Josie, the owners daughter who takes them to where her father disappeared.
They find some green goop in a meteor crater but no sign of Josie's father or the meteor. That night when investigating strange noises Diana is carried off into the sky by a giant insect. Following it to an abandoned mine they find fossilised prehistoric insects which are being revived by the ooze from the meteor along with cocoons where the insects are storing their victims for use as food. Two scuba divers off the coast of Monte Carlo find an old treasure chest then something attacks and grabs one of them. At Torrington Academy Martin pulls a series of practical jokes on Diana and claims she's no fun so she vows to prove him wrong. Called to Centre they avoid eating MOM's inedible cooking and take the first warpgate to Monte Carlo. Diana interviews (and develops a crush on) Stefan the remaining diver who claims he has no idea what attacked them of why. Something big and unseen attacks the wharf and drags off a boat and Martin & the gang follow. They go diving in the area the diver disappeared and Java meet ""Rover"" his old dolphin-like pet from his caveman days. Diana finds an ancient coin where the treasure chest used to be at the start of the show and they enter an underwater cave but something carries off Diana. Java and Martin follow and track her signal to a giant sea monster which swallows them whole.

In a small town in Alberta a boy named Wilbur poking around an antiques store finds an old puzzle box which magically unseals itself. At Torrington Academy Diana teases Martin about his insect phobias and being a scardey-cat. They're called to The Centre and sent with Java to investigate a wave of odd occurances in the Alberta town. Wilbur now looks to be half goat and his condition is progressing. Also a farmhouse was destroyed by a storm that appeared and disappeared almost immediately. They find an odd symbol burned into the ground at the farmhouse then things get dangerous when the local sawmill starts running without anyone in it and a giant saw blade breaks free and chases Martin, Diana & Java's car. Martin decoys the blade into embedding itself in a rock then uses the Legendex to identify the symbol as an ancient Arabian symbol meaning Chaos. Searching the Legendex they find a legend about an arabian sorcerer who wanted to bring peace to his people so he drew all the cha

At a Vancouver University a sleep researcher is studying a patient's nightmare when something emerges from his monitor. At Torringtom a hyper Diana reveals to Martin her secret to how she aced the midterms is candy. With the sugar high she doesn't need to sleep and she had plenty of energy to study. Martin points out that now midterms are over she can cut back on the sweet stuff but Diana's not interested. Martin accuses her of being addicted and bets that she can't go without sweets for 24 hours. If she loses she does his algebra homework for a month and if she wins Martin forgoes his horror movie marathons for a month. They're called to Centre where Diana faces her first sugary temptations then after a look at MOM's trials of the prototype flying suit it's off to Vancouver where a student at the university has been asleep for three days despite all attempts to wake her. When Martin does a bioscan he finds that her eyes appear totally white while Java finds sand in her room.

On Christmas Eve in the Laurentian Mountains an unlucky guy named Clifford is getting ready for Christmas but fumbling things. He's wishing for a perfect Christmas when he drops the lucky snowglobe he bought which is supposed to grant a wish on Christmas Eve. When it cracks Clifford disappears in a flash of red light. At Torrington Academy Christmas vacation begins and Martin's all for taking it easy for the holidays but Diana's got every minute planned out in her daytimer. Their argument is interrupted by a call from Centre despite being promised the week off. They arrive there to find Java is already there, since neither he nor Billy have family or celebrate the holiday they're going icefishing together. Looking a lot less stern than usual MOM gives them both presents. A strobe light ring for Martin since he likes bright shiny things and a paperweight for Diana that contains a minaturized twister that MOM trapped while on her hurricane chasing vacation.

Near Antigonish, Nova Scotia young Cameron and his parents are having a picnic. The bored boy wanders away and bumps into a tree which grabs him then the title rolls. At Torrington Academy Diana and Martin are both practicing their lame ideas for the school talent show when they're called to Centre with Java. They arrive to find MOM experimenting with a shrinking gun from a UFO that crashed in 1957. She stops the experiment to give them their mission, a local constable has reported that all Antigonish's 95 inhabitants have disappeared. As she talks Martin tries juggling items from her desk including the shrinking gun which he drops and which zaps MOM. She orders them out of her office and Billy tells MOM not to worry as some of his old clothes should fit her. In Antigonish they find the village filled with odd trees and Diana develops a crush on Angus, the constable who reported the disappearances.

At Nadini College (a private girls school in Cap Ferrat, France) 3 girls are fooling around in the basement with a beginners guide to magic spells. It seems to be a dud and they run off when their principal comes downstairs to investigate the noise but they've awakened something and in engulfs the principal and covers the basement in slime. At Torrington Academy Martin is more interested in flirting with girls than studying for exams which infuriates Diana so she manipulates him into a wager that he can't go a week without flirting. Martin's not too happy about this but he hates to lose a bet so he's stuck. Java notices a door that wasn't there before and they enter it to find themselves at Center. They're sent to Nadini to investigate the principal's disappearance giving Martin the problem of being surrounded by girls while trapped by Diana's bet. In the slime covered basement Diana finds a necklace with before the acting principal arrives.

In Xian province in China a policeman and a villager witness a stone lion come to life in the pre title sequence. At Torrington High both Java and Diana fall victim to practical jokes pulled by Martin who has too much time on his hands since Center hasn't called them for weeks. After they're paged and arrived at Center (skipping the usual 'find the portal' sequence) Martin pulls an Alien Chestburster practical joke on Billy. In MOM's office Martin opens the box holding a micro singularity she's examining and MOM is almost completely pulled into its event horizon before Java pulls her back out of the box. After explaining to Martin that micro singularity means a miniature black hole the team are dispatched to China. Martin examines the evidence while Diana and Java try unsuccessfully to scare him with a dragon costume. The pawprints of the stone lion contain an unknown substance that Martin sends to Billy for analysis.
