A farmer, Michel Villeneuve, was found unresponsive at the foot of his tractor. He was diagnosed with leukemia, linked to the use of a weed killer produced by the multinational Saskia. Deputy Guillaume Delpierre, a childhood friend of Villeneuve's, pledged to table an amendment to ban the product. But Saskia's CEO appoints a formidable lobbyist, Mathieu Bowman, to counter his project. Bowman, meanwhile, hires Claire Lansel, a former political journalist with a rich address book, to help him maneuver behind the scenes. That's when Saskia's marketing director, Didier Forrest, is found drowned in the Seine.

Bowman provided Didier Forrest's family with evidence that supported the theory of suicide. However, her daughter, Chloe, refuses to believe it. Claire Lansel is tasked with dispelling his suspicions. In the Assembly, Delpierre, who had been appointed rapporteur for the new agricultural law, tabled his amendment. While Bowman prepares his counterattack, Delpierre convinces Michel Villeneuve to file a complaint against Saskia. The farmer was soon visited by lobbyists, who offered him a large sum of money for his silence. Chloe, desperate, undertakes an investigation on her own to uncover the truth about her father's death.

Michel Villeneuve came into conflict with his son Benjamin, who wanted to convert the farm to organic farming thanks to the money offered by Bowman. Suspecting an attempt at bribery orchestrated by the lobbyist, MP Guillaume Delpierre tries to convince his wife Florence to renounce a subsidy granted by the Paoletti Foundation for the organisation of a school trip. For her part, Chloe Forrest is trying to decode a document that her father had taken care to keep safe before he died. Commissioned by Bowman, Claire Lansel persuades the young woman to hand over the file. But, caught up in her convictions, the former journalist soon engages in a perilous double game. While Chloé has set off on her father's trail in Belgium, Claire decides to join her to investigate.

Chloe and Claire go to the meeting set by Sorensen, the former head of Saskia's "research" sector, who is now in hiding. For him, there is no doubt that Didier Forrest was murdered. At the same time, a scientific study implicating the multinational made headlines. Guillaume Delpierre sees this as an opportunity to publicise his legislative fight. But during his radio appearance, he was attacked about the grant received by his wife, which was allegedly financed by the agrochemical industry. Bowman also manages to instill doubt on the validity of the scientific study by relying on Claire's work. Irresistibly attracted to Romain Corso, Delpierre's parliamentary assistant, she finds herself in an increasingly untenable position...

A shadow enters the Forrests' home and slips into Chloe's room. The girl, asleep, does not feel the sting. She fell into a coma, the victim of a heroin overdose... Bowman asks Claire never to have contact with the Forrest family again. In hushed tones, he makes it clear that he knows she lied to him. Feeling threatened, Sorensen contacts Claire again, who manages to extract the name of the independent laboratory behind the study on the harmfulness of the substances used by Saskia. Against all odds, the parliamentary group led by MP Guillaume Delpierre adopted the amendment. Bowman understands that Kastaing, the prime minister, is about to let go of the multinational.

Bowman has not given up hope of making Guillaume Delpierre fold. Knowing the deputy's attachment to Romain, his assistant, whom he considers an adopted son, the lobbyist mandates an investigation into him. In the meantime, he offers Claire a breach of contract, including a confidentiality clause that she will not be able to break. At the Villeneuves', Michel reflected. Thanks to public aid, he wants to convert his farm to organic farming. At the hospital, Chloe seems to have given up on her anti-lobby crusade. But is she really sincere?
