Jamie Genevieve: A Year in the Life

Jamie takes us on a guided tour of her home, introducing fiancé Jack and her pet dog Drogba. They’re having important upgrades to their new home and Jamie has designed a new studio for her beauty blogs. Jamie makes a trip to London to launch a new cosmetic company and confesses to letting her wedding plans slip.

The second instalment of this series with influencer Jamie Genevieve sees her arrive in Ibiza in the middle of a heatwave. She is booked for a week-long event with a host of Europe’s biggest names in beauty blogging. The main event is the launch of an eyebrow pencil and as Jamie is the brand's 'eyebrow ambassador' she is the main guest on the trip. Jamie and Jack enter their hotel bedroom to find a collection of expensive and exclusive free gifts. The next day is all about bonding. Most of the influencers haven't met before so they are sent to a pool party where Jamie tells one of the Italian influencers about her upcoming wedding in Italy. The main event goes smoothly and we see a wave of mass Euro-vlogging, pouting for selfies, testing the product and a lot of eyebrow painting. At the end of the day Jamie breaks away from the pack to launch her latest beauty blog and enjoys a rare moment of peace with fiancé Jack as the sun sets over the Med.

This Episode starts in LA where Jamie talks about their American equivalent, beauty blogging influencer couple Les and Shayla. We hear about Jack and Jamie’s shared love of LA and the story of Jack’s proposal to Jamie, which was planned to be under the Hollywood sign. At the event that evening Jack and Jamie meet up with Les and Shayla and party the night away, filming and photographing each other, with hundreds of other influencers all doing their thing. The setting is a film studio and with Snoop Dogg on the decks, and it is evidently clear that Jamie is living a glamorous life.

This episode sees Jamie in England for two back-to-back events. One is a new venture for Jamie doing a Facebook live sales promotion and the other is a second attempt at a charity skydive. In Essex, Jamie arrives at the cosmetic brand HQ and reveals how these bookings have changed her outlook. She used to be a planner, always wanting to know weeks in advance what was in her diary but now she has learned to be 'more of an easy Jose'. She is in the very same building where the inventor Marconi made the first UK radio transmission, and Jamie takes a photo for her dad, who loves radio. The event goes well - 10,000 live viewers on Facebook makes the brand team happy and the next day she is driven from Essex into Kent. However, Jamie is concerned about the weather, especially as the first attempt was cancelled due to rain. She just prefers to get the parachute jump done and dusted, so she and Jack both take the health and safety training course at the skydive centre based in an airfield near the Kent coast and then sit and wait for hours. Eventually they receive bad news - the sky isn't clear enough and it's not safe to do the jump. Jamie announces this to her followers and receives a message saying that maybe it's an omen.

'It's the Scottish royal wedding', Jamie says as she conducts a rare press interview tucked away in a small room in Braehead Shopping Centre. It's the launch of her new lipstick which sees her teaming up with MAC make-up. It's her first make-up product and she Is doing press and meet-and-greets. This is the third event in three days but it Is also the most important as it sees Jamie with her adoring fans in her hometown of Glasgow. We also see Jack, who has to deal with his fair share of selfie requests: Jamie's weekly 'life at home' vlogs are as equally popular as her beauty tutorials. At the end of the event a shattered Jamie drives back home with Jack and receives a moving personal message about how she has made a positive impact on a young fan's life. Jamie used to work behind the counter at a make-up store in Braehead and she reflects on this at home, about how it all started and how she made the leap to where she is now. Fiancé Jack has had a massive transformation too, from his earlier life as a Glasgow bricklayer to the man behind the camera of one of Scotland’s biggest internet personalities.

It's Jamie's birthday and Jack has a surprise trip booked for her. To underline Jamie's progress we see her doing a double-header beauty tutorial with Hollywood royalty Drew Barrymore. Next we see Jamie and Jack trying to capture the perfect Instagram on a beautiful beach in the Hamptons. Jamie's standards are sky-high so it's not as easy as it sounds, and we see Jack working hard to get it just right. Jamie's birthday is spent 100 miles from the Hamptons in Manhattan, and after buying some gold from a Chinatown jewellers Jack takes her on a helicopter ride around the New York skyline. Kids used to say they want to be popstars or actors, now they say they want to be YouTubers - crazy', says Jamie. Not so crazy when you see the life she lives.

Jamie attends a fitness session with her personal trainer, who she visits when she is not travelling the world for work.While Jamie is 'living the life', she says it is important to remember to look after her body and mind - not just for work reasons, as being an online personality comes with a lot of other pressures. Dealing with negative opinions around body image and makeup has become a huge part of the influencer life - as everyone knows, the internet is a place where people say whatever they want with no idea how it might be affecting that individual.Despite this, the vlogging and online beauty and make-up video world continues to grow, and Jamie's status takes her to London to be on the panel of judges for the Tomorrow's Top Vlogger final at YouTube's London headquarters.

It is autumn 2018, Jamie’s international trips are coming to an end and she is eight months away from her Italian wedding with fiancé Jack. Jamie is booked to do a low-key meet-and-greet for YSL in Debenhams, where she shows the select audience how to take the perfect selfie. At home, we see Jamie getting ready for a special occasion: she has been nominated for a prestigious Young Scot Award, which takes place in front of a live audience featuring VIPs such as Nicola Sturgeon and Judy Murray.

It's Christmas at Jamie's and as well as placing gifts for Drogba under the tree, she has a bundle of gifts for the girls who work at her favourite nail bar in Glasgow. As the new year begins Jamie picks up another award: the honour of entering the Tennent's Hall of Fame. She is only the second female to reach this landmark. We meet Charlotte, who is now on Jamie's payroll designing her website as well as performing some household tasks, and Jack celebrates his 30th. We see them pack their suitcases for an important trip: the day after Jack's birthday they plan to fly to Italy to meet the wedding planners at their Tuscan venue.

In an English tradition going back well beyond Charles Dickens, the series concludes with a wedding, or at least the preparations therefor. With 14 weeks to go before the big day Jamie and Jack are in Italy to finalise their wedding plans and check out the venue. They reveal their sad news that Drogba is unable to come to Italy to see them get married but they are treating him to a stay at a top-of-the-range dog hotel.
