Haggard

The second series begins as Haggard tries to get his hands on the family inheritance. Standing in his way is his senile relative Pelham.

A visit to the area by the Prince of Wales gives Haggard the chance to make some extra money by claiming to be an acquaintance of the next in line to the throne. However, when he goes to the tavern instead, Haggard's plans are thrown into jeopardy.

Desperate to make money, Haggard turns to gambling. But in the process loses a valuable ring owned by his cousin Jack. When Jack loses his entire fortune on a horse, he takes the drastic action of taking his own life...

Celebrated playwright Milton Scroop has arrived in the area to perform his new drama. However Haggard's arrival turns the play into more of a farce than tragedy...

Charles Askam descends on Haggard's estate looking for his missing daughter Arabella. Haggard finds her having eloped with Roderick and knowing her father would not approve, arranges for them to be wed. However an interruption in the form of a young woman with a baby leads to heartbreak for Arabella and wedding bells for Grunge...

Haggard is intent on regaining his lost fortunes and plots to marry Roderick off to a lady with good connections. When an invite to a ball comes from Arabella Askham, Haggard thinks he is in luck until his plan falls foul of a devious plot involving a wicked lady...

In the last episode of the series, Haggard in imprisoned for an armed robbery he didn't commit. Facing the death penalty, Roderick and Grunge come to his rescue. But as their escape attempts fail, Haggard's fate seems extremely bleak...
