And anyone who believes that they can step out of contemporary history and into the idyll in the countryside is thoroughly mistaken. Because the corpses that lie in the cellar cannot be concealed in the long run. When the mayor Arne Seidel invites the inhabitants to the village meeting, many still do not suspect, which abysses will open up in the so far peaceful village life: A lucrative wind farm is to be built not far from the lower classes, which Anne Pils, as representative of the wind turbine company, will present to the villagers at the meeting. While some of the villagers decide to take up the fight against the construction of the wind farm, the owners of the land in question are now beginning to vie for the tender and the profitable lease. Friends become enemies and vice versa.

In the Brandenburg village of Unterleuten, an investor is planning the construction of a wind farm. The construction project disturbs the supposed village idyll and divides the inhabitants. In Unterleuten, the interests of the residents clash: while a large part of the population is mobilising against the construction of the wind farm, the different ownership structures of other residents lead to conflicts. Events come to a head. Meiler, the investor from southern Germany is trying to gain a competitive advantage. Mayor Arne Seidel sees the village's existence threatened if the contract is not awarded to the local "Ökologica", as it is the largest employer. However, there are not enough hectares in the suitability area, whereupon the managing director Rudolf Gombrowski asserts his influence in the village community. Old enmities boil over and the situation threatens to escalate when a child disappears.

Meanwhile "Ökologica" suffers from strike and sabotage. The southern German investor Meiler and the managing director of "Ökologica", Rudolf Gombrowski, are vying for the land of the young entrepreneur Linda Franzen, who has moved in and wants to make capital out of it. But she also gets unexpected headwind.
