Christmas brings the good news that Monika and Joachim are expecting a child. After Caterina is incapacitated by a car accident, Helga takes over the management of the dance school and hires an Argentine dance teacher. Meanwhile, Helga's husband, Wolfgang, is overcome with remorse after a gay prisoner hangs himself. Wolfgang feels responsible. Monika and Joachim start to have serious problems when Monika has a miscarriage and Joachim blames himself. Together with Freddy, Monika throws herself into composing a song for Hannelore Lay to sing at the Eurovision Song Contest. Eva and Jürgen Fassbender’s marriage takes an even worse turn. Wolfgang makes the decision to resign and tries to alleviate his guilt by telling Helga what happened. She, in turn, makes her own confession. Monika has to confront her worst fears while the qualifying round for the Eurovision Song Contest is fast approaching. Eva has moved back in with Fassbender and wants to try starting over, but how much influence does she really have? As Helga and Amando's affair becomes more public, Caterina is concerned about the reputation of the dance school. At the same time, Caterina lets Fritz Assmann back into her life and invites him to a family dinner without telling her daughters in advance.
