Ellerbeck

Six-part sitcom in mockumentary style about the educator Sabine, who is unexpectedly elected mayor of the small town of Ellerbeck. As a spokeswoman for a citizens' initiative to prevent a mast system, Sabine has to prove herself in local politics from now on. Only her experience from kindergarten can help against the intrigues of her predecessor.

A deserving citizen of Ellerbeck is 100 years old. As the new mayor, Sabine, of course, has to congratulate her - and she jumps into every faux pas that can be found. The honorary citizen is so angry that she stops all donations to the city and brings Sabine to explanations. But Sabine did not look after small children in kindergarten for years, only to be intimidated by a stubborn but sprightly senior citizen. Together with her husband Klaus, she does everything possible to make amends not only for her own mistakes, but also for the false promises made by her predecessor Alexander Ten-Hensen. In their very own way, of course.

The citizens' initiative around Sabine has every reason to celebrate. With their “Mast not be” campaign to prevent the Ellerbeck mast installation, the friends won the “The Golden Mammoth” environmental award. And the nice thing about it is that the group can not only celebrate this with their regular Greek Stavros, but in a wellness hotel, including a big award ceremony. Sabine, Klaus, Ute, Yvonne and Günther arrive with great anticipation. However, disillusionment quickly follows, especially for Sabine. Not only is their greatest adversary, Alexander Ten-Hensen, on site purely “by chance”, the actually committed group suddenly argue and resentment spreads. When a full-blown jealousy drama looms, Sabine has to mobilize all her strength so that the award ceremony doesn't fall through.

Although Sabine is slowly starting to enjoy the mayor's office, there are simply appointments that she would love to skip. Especially since her schedule is slowly starting to look like Barack Obama's. At least that is what her husband Klaus says, who as Ellerbeck's “first lady” feels set back and longs for a quiet wellness weekend with his wife. But nothing there, instead the two of them have to go to the Ellerbecker Schützen festival, including a bird's shot and the coronation of the Schützen King Klaus survives this only by enjoying several beers in combination with schnapps. So inspired, he reaches for the rifle and suddenly the fancy wellness weekend for the two is the smallest problem for the first couple from Ellerbeck.

Sabine falls from all clouds. Her predecessor and eternal adversary, Alexander Ten-Hensen, is suddenly nice to her, compliments her and stands in front of her doorstep with wine in the evening, telling Sabine about his vision of a wind farm in Ellerbeck with great enthusiasm. Environmentally friendly power generation, Sabine can't have anything against that! And Ten-Hensen actually runs open doors to Sabine with his concern. She throws herself into the major project with vigor, rolls over contracts, collects soil reports. Only when dozens of loud demonstrators with megaphones gather in front of the town hall and want Sabine to the leather, she understands why Ten-Hensen was suddenly so friendly to her.
