The series first episode begins where The gang of Engine Company 23 were selected to go to a once in a lifetime fireman's picnic but who will pay for the last minute tickets for that upcoming event? The crew responded to a possible man trapped on top of a crane at a construction site but the man couldn't hold on to the railing so the men had no choice but to bring in a life net in order to save him, also engine 23 responded to a three alarm fire at a high rise office buliding and saved a few people including Sonny's ex-girlfriend played by (Van Ark).
