It's the Free Lossless Audio Codec, and it's considered pretty spiffy by folks that love pure audio goodness. • Winamp Alternatives Part One, aka Audio Players That Aren't iTunes, or Windows Media Player: Greg, John, Dyna and JKL say Foobar2000 looks simple, but has a powerful set of backend features, supports tons of audio formats and it's very customizable (thanks Infecto for the very shiny link!). musikCube is clean, simple, open source, and very not resource intensive... thanks Erik and Jean-Richard for the heads up. Built on the same code base as Firefox, it supports local audio playback though it doesn't really shines until you point it at web sources, such as music blogs. • PS: folks are still writing in to say that Winamp is better.
