Alice is visited by Mathieu, who is wounded. He is convinced that the prosecutor in charge of the case against him is trying to eliminate him. He again begs Alice to flee with him to Brazil. At the same time, the judge is called to the scene of a homicide. A soldier was stabbed in her sleep at the home of Joss Ferrat, a senior reporter. The latter is found hidden in his cellar and accuses himself of the murder.
