Lars Monsen has set himself a soaring goal: to win the Iditarod in Alaska, the world's longest sled dog race, over 1800 km. But that is still a long ways off. Lars hits the wall in the 1000 km long Finnmarksløpet. He decides to race only to finish, and manages to finish in a spot he is satisfied with. But on the way home, something tragic happens.
