The media hounds Yawara and Fujiko in their training. As he trains with Sayaka, he comes to believe that she will beat Yawara, meaning he’ll have to marry Sayaka right afterwards. He secretly plots to run away after Sayaka’s predicted victory. Kojiro tells him that Sayaka has achieved 99% needed for victory, and just awaits the elusive remining 1% luck needed to beat a genius. Fujiko is having a confidence crisis on the night before the All Japan Selected until she hears Hanazono yelling a cheer for her in his sleep. Yawara meets Sayaka in the 48kg and under finals. Before the match, Yawara invites her to her post-match “victory” celebration.
