A young journalist and a candidate for mayor of Gubbio is killed during the election campaign, perhaps because of his environmental projects. Soon, however, investigation of burning that the young man was leading comes to light. Meanwhile, Laura Respighi, intelligent and attractive woman comes to Gubbio, as replacement of candidate. She not only wins the election but will also lose her head to Captain Anceschi.
