Mother Gustava asks about the school's opening, unaware of Óscar's cold response that it will not open and the place will be turned into a warehouse for his burdens, thus burying the hope of all Monteverde. Carolina, aware that her sister Celeste will travel to Monteverde, sees the perfect opportunity and begs her to deliver two letters addressed to Óscar. Lucas surprises Óscar, Franco, and Moisés by announcing that he will be a father, as Rosalía is expecting his child.
