Óscar is convinced that Eva is selfish, since she only thinks about herself, and asks her to accept that Franco wants nothing to do with his biological mother. Eva reveals to Franco that when she decided to leave home, she planned to take him with her, but admits she didn't feel ready, so she chose to leave him in Óscar's care, as he has always been a great father. Franco questions his father about the swing he built for him near the river, and he reveals that his mother took him there every day after school to play. Carolina manages to escape Carlos's cruelty and, together with her son Andrés, decides to return to Monteverde.
