Luis Emilio visits Violeta because he wants to know how she is, but she asks her mother to throw him out. Unexpectedly, Herminia appears at Manuel's workplace and tells him that she managed to save herself from the fire, causing him great emotion. The ex-prostitute runs away before she is discovered and asks Aunt Carmen to let her hide there, in exchange for some valuable gold nuggets. Finally, José Luis takes the tenants to the barn and tells them that they will be marked, just like the animals, starting with his brother.
