Women who were kept in the shelter Laugalandi or Varpholti as teenagers tell about their experiences of being there. They describe mental breakdown and physical violence. They describe how they unsuccessfully tried to inform the authorities about how they were treated. A parent says that a teenage girl's behavioral problems have worsened rapidly after staying there. It wasn't until the women spoke to the media at the time that the authorities took over and it was decided to investigate their livelihood in Laugalandi and Varpholt. The result of the study is reported, which is striking. However, the girls say that the accommodation was even worse than the results indicate. The staff who took care of the girls, however, deny in the investigation that mental or physical abuse took place at the institution.
