The time of the big cats
Ascent (1x1)
Air date: Sep 19, 2018
During the Pleistocene, 1.5 million years ago, the climate was characterized by ice ages, and the wildlife was dominated by fearsome saber-toothed cats. They were the rulers of the world for millions of years. Then the first big cats appeared. They were usually inferior to the wild "saber-teeth", so they had to develop special abilities in order to survive in the long run. The cheetah became the fastest sprinter of the wide grassy plains. The shy snow leopard lives in the high mountains of Central Asia – thanks to its robustness, it can even survive deep falls over rock faces. The jaguar inhabits the jungles of South and Central America – its bite is the strongest of all big cats. (Text: Servus TV)
