A look at the remnants of the original downtown Sacramento area, which still exists beneath the sidewalks. Flooding in the mid-19th century forced Sacramentans to build a "new" city on top of the old one, but many storefronts and facades still exist – though not for much longer, unless a conservation campaign starts soon.
