The Wellington area was hit by a severe blizzard for nine days at the end of February 1910. Up to a foot (30 cm) of snow fell every hour, with eleven feet (340 cm) falling on the worst day. Two trains, a passenger train and a mail train, were stuck in the depot on their way from Spokane to Seattle.
